I have been overweight ever since I hit puberty. That meant I was going into high school with a very low self-esteem. I tried the "starve" myself diet. I would only eat once a day. This worked More ...
I have been overweight ever since I hit puberty. That meant I was going into high school with a very low self-esteem. I tried the "starve" myself diet. I would only eat once a day. This worked and I dropped 25 pounds but it was very unhealthy and the minute I started to eat normal, I gained back the 25 pounds PLUS another 25 pounds!!
I did the "yo-yo" dieting all through high school. When I went away to college I was overweight. That first year in college I gained the "fresmen 15" and was MISERABLE! I can remember a guy leaning out his dorm room and yelling to me and calling me fat. That was embarrassing!
I didn't lose weight in college until my junior year when I bought a mountain bike and started biking everywhere. The weight really started to come off. I knew from that moment on that I had to "move" in order to lose weight.
I then got married and had two beautiful daughters. After the birth of my second daughter, I was back to being the heaviest I had ever been. My size 14's were getting tight and I remember being out to eat one night telling myself that enough was enough. The food just didn't taste as good because I knew how uncomfortable I was sitting there.
I decided to join a gym and lost a lot of weight. I was feeling good about myself again. After a while, the gym just wasn't doing it for me anymore and I was feeling like it took a lot of time to get there, find someone to watch the kids, workout, and then get home again. It was taking up all the time during my evenings. At this time, I began to smoke again. I had quit before I had my first daughter and now I was smoking again. My husband asked me to quit for good and I did, with the dreaded weight gain that seems to follow.
Feeling depressed and heavy, I started to cruise the internet and to look for home workout programs. I thought that would help my dilemma of not having enough time to go to the gym. That is how I found Beachbody. The whole concept of working out at home but still having friends like at a gym sounded excellent to me. I began with Slim in 6. From there I moved on to Turbo Jam and was addicted. I no longer felt an addiction to smoking. Now I was addicted to working out and living a healthy lifestyle.
I started finding so many friends on the message boards and I found a friend that was doing Power 90. I did Power 90 along with others and saw a great transformation. I have done P90X, Hip Hop Abs, and the new Rockin' Body workouts. I love to dance so the Hip Hop Abs Dance Party Series appealed to me. I ordered these and I have been hooked on those workouts ever since. Beachbody just has so many workouts to choose from!
I have not looked back since. Beachbdoy has changed not only my body but my whole life. I would like to thank everyone at Team Beachbody for their help and support in creating a new me!
Update: January 2008: I completed a round of slim series and am beginning to see definition all over my body.
Update February 2008: I completed a round of HHA Dance Party Series and I see so much difference in my stomach.
Update March 2008: I have completed a round of Rockin' Body and lost an inch off my waist and an inch from each thigh!
Update January 2009: Well I seem to have fallen off the wagon a bit. A death in the family and another family member's sickness have taken away from my workouts and my healthy eating. I am working right now on ChaLEAN Extreme and am really enjoying. I will post my stats at the end of this round.
