During my undergrad years I was very thin because I ran a lot and ate very little. Sounds great, but it really was not because my routine lacked balance and could not be sustained.

During my undergrad years I was very thin because I ran a lot and ate very little. Sounds great, but it really was not because my routine lacked balance and could not be sustained.

Shortly after starting grad school in 2004 I suffered an overuse injury from all that running. Despite intense therapy, my condition never fully subsided, and so I had to stop long-distance running altogether. Needless to say, I was BUMMED OUT. I spent months moping around needing my "running fix" that the elliptical just simply could not recreate.

Then one day I saw the Turbo Jam infomercial on TV. Seriously. It all started with an infomercial! I saw how hard they were sweating, and how much fun they were having, and I thought this was probably my best bet at getting some good mood-boosting cardio again. I ordered it right away and was soon hooked! Wow, 'runner's high' in my living room with Chalene Johnson! And I even learned how to 'shake it'!!! Soon I found a live Turbo class nearby and progressed to becoming an instructor myself!

Currently I am having a great time with my exercise routine and have also gained a lot of strength by changing my appproach to weight lifting (women do NOT bulk up!). But like most of us, I am still a work in progress. So I am currently working on leaning out using Shakeology as a meal replacement once a day.
