Edgewood, MD Hi there!! My name is Missy Thorson and I live in Edgewood, Maryland. I am 55 years old and I am enjoying retirement after working 25 years for the Federal Government. I'm married to my childhood sweetheart Steve Thorson who is also my Beachbody Coach. My husband and I own a small cleaning business in Maryland. We also have 3 beautiful grandchildren. I love swimming, football, baseball, softball, bowling, volley ball, badmitton, ping pong and just about all sports. I love my hometown Baltimore Ravens and Baltimore Orioles. I also love dogs and all animals, the beach, arts & crafts, camping, dancing, music, and going to concerts, and simply having fun in what life has to offer. I guess it was because of my love for music and concerts that got us involved in Beachbody. I have always loved the group Chicago, and Steve & I are lucky enough to be friends of the lead singer/bass player Jason Scheff, who is my husband's Beachbody coach.

I am only 5'1" and I weigh 176 now thanks to SHAKEOLOGY and working out moderately. As a kid I was not overweight at all. I was always very active in school sports, and at home. I can remember More ...
I am only 5'1" and I weigh 176 now thanks to SHAKEOLOGY and working out moderately. As a kid I was not overweight at all. I was always very active in school sports, and at home. I can remember weighing 110 when I graduated from High School. When I got married 6 years later at age 24 I weighed 120, and then over the years I gained weight a pound at a time, and became less active. I had a desk job, which also helped with weight gain. I topped out at almost 190 a few years ago, and the lightbulb went off. That is way too heavy for someone of my height. There is a history of diabetes and heart disease in my immediately family - parents and grandparents, and I decided that I was not going that route. At age 50, I had a lot of aches and pains in the morning when getting out of bed, and I also had bad lower back pain. I had plantar faciitis (heel spurs) twice and could hardly walk. I attributed all of these aches and pains to "getting older". In Feb 2005 I had my first major surgery - a total abdominal hysterectomy, and that was torture. It took me a good year to start to feel like me again. In the end of 2005 a new CURVES For Women opened up in my town - actually 5 minutes from my house. I joined Curves even before they opened for business, and worked out 6 mornings a week with a bunch of fun ladies. The results started showing, and I continued to go to Curves until they closed our location. Our memberships were moved to another Curves location about 15 minutes away. I continued working out with the morning Curves ladies bunch until this location went out of business in the end of 2008. It was around that time that Jason Scheff (lead singer for the band Chicago) started to transform himself in front of all his fans on his MySpace page. He "put it out there" publically so that he could be held accountable, and he started with P90X workouts. After watching him for the first month and seeing his before and after pictures, my husband Steve and I really took notice of this and kept watching him. Then after Jason's 60 day after picture, we were convinced that we could in fact do this too. We purchased the P90X workout DVDs and quickly found out that we had to start with something not as radical as P90X. So we started working out with Tony Horton's Power 90. We did that for 90 days and saw some good results. We stuck with it, and the workout became easier, and believe it or not, my aches and pains started to disappear. We entered Jason's monthly Scheffy Challenges to stay accountable and to support and get support from our friends on-line who were doing the same thing. After finishing Power 90, we bought Hip Hop Abs,and then got into Turbo Jam. That was the ticket for me - Turbo Jam and now Turbo Fire. I love Chalene's workouts. I swim in our pool every Summer, and I also do water aerobics and water assisted pull ups in the pool. I have a weighted hoola hoop that I use while watching TV. I take 1+ mile walks around our neighborhood once or twice a day. On top of the exercise, I am drinking a delicious Chocolate Shakeology every morning. The Shakeology is a lifesaver in my opinion. My blood work has really improved since drinking the Shakeology every day. I am on this weight loss journey with my husband and a lot of wonderful friends. My goal is to get down to at least 130, so I have about 46 pounds to go.
