I started my Beachbody story in July 18, 2008. Back then I was a momma to a 4 year old daughter. I worked fulltime in military contracting as well as went to school fulltime for MBA. I definitely had my plate full. It's no wonder I've gained 50+ lbs over the course of the last 2 years!!
But let's go further back. I have been an intensive athlete all my life. I started basketball at a very young age, added softball to that list of sports, and finally then volleyball. My love of sports kept me trim. I never had an issue with overeating or gaining weight. When I graduated high school, I was in the best shape of my life. I went away to college and managed to maintain a healthy weight. However, when I graduated college, I was 4 months pregnant with my first child. My first pregnancy was amazing. I was ALL belly, and I lost the baby weight (and some) pretty quickly. I was a stay-at-home mom, so being busy with my first child helped me keep the weight off. I went through a pretty stressful time not long after the birth of my daughter. Her father and I went through two separations (and eventually divorced). I started a new job – a desk job. So hello to 8 hour days of sitting on my bum. Eventually I was also working part-time waiting tables on the evenings/days that my daughter was with her dad. Then I met Marc. He and I have been together since 2006. We aren't married, but it will probably happen one day. That's when the weight really started to settle in. A lot of people call it “happy fat.” You know, when you get comfortable with someone, you tend to pack in a few pounds. Well, I packed in a good 30-40 lbs since being with Marc. (I must have been really happy – lol). I can make lots of excuses for gaining that weight (i.e., being too busy to eat healthy, not taking the time to exercise, etc). So, one night, I was wide awake watching infomercials. And I saw a 30 minute segment on Beachbody's Turbo Jam and I was amazed. The next day, I consulted with Marc and we decided that I would go ahead and purchase the Turbo Jam DVD collection. When I got the package, I felt like a kid on Christmas morning. This package would be the KEY to getting my physique back. I quickly signed up for Team Beachbody and jumped right to the message boards.

I hadn't realized how active my thread was. It was awesome. In September 2008, I found out I was pregnant with my second child. I had every intention of sticking with Turbo Jam throughout the pregnancy and beyond. And again, I can make tons of excuses for not following through. But I did not, and I am kicking myself in the bum now.
When I started in 2008, I was just under 180 lbs. When I started this time around, I was hovering just above 190 lbs. It was the biggest I have EVER been, and I was completely disgusted with my body. I knew I needed a change. I tried various “get skinny quickly” diets, and I ended up starving myself. So I knew that there was going to be no quick way to lose the weight. It took time to gain the weight and it is going to take time to lose it.
So my old college roommate told me about a friend of her sister's that had a true transformation story, and so I added her to Twitter and Facebook. I read her story, and I was instantly amazed by her perservance. I knew that Beachbody products worked. I have seen friends and co-workers get results. But her posts on the various social networks truly inspired me to get back to Team Beachbody. I got in touch with her and I knew she was going to end up my coach.
I am at a point in my life where I think I am more useful at home, taking care of the house and the children. My oldest is almost 8 years old and in the 2nd grade. She is in various extracurricular activities as well. My youngest is over 2 years old and I am just getting him involved in activities outside the home. The truth be told, I am absolutely over working a desk job and I want to be home. I know there is no way my family would be able to survive on one income. So, I decided to become a Beachbody Coach and built my “business” so that I would be able to “work” at home and still bring in money. So, that's where I am at today. I am absolutely excited about aligning my goals – to be fit and healthy; to still be able to support my family financially; and to be home with my kids – as an Beachbody Coach.
So join me as I embark on my NEW journey to a new healthy me. I will transform with you. It is my nature to encourage and motivate people as they reach for their goals. So welcome to my thread. I look forward to helping YOU achieve your goals!
