My transformation story is a little different than most and I learned valuable lesson later in life. As a young adult until my mid-30s, I don’t recall ever having a weight problem. For several years, I was fortunate to effortlessly maintain my weight no matter what I ate. Although, I’ve always been physically active, and health conscious; I cheated a lot, but hardly gained an ounce.

However, when I reached my mid-30’s, I noticed that my metabolism started slowing down significantly. I was used to eating whatever I wanted but noticeably started gaining weight! No matter how much I exercised, my results were unflattering, so I had to accept the reality of not being able to eat what I wanted and getting away with it. This was a rude awakening and I knew it was now time to take action to achieve positive results. Being thin was no longer taken for granted as it was now difficult staying slim.

Another factor I learned is that doing cardio and using fewer weights did NOT assist in burning fat, but resulted into muscle loss. My objective was NOT to lose muscle, but to GAIN muscle! Now, I know what works best for me: weights 3 days and cardio 2 days/wk. I started my ChaLEAN Extreme workouts over three months ago and I’ve seen positive changes. A lot of my fat was burned off and replaced with muscle. It appears I’ve become more compact and toned.

I learned a lot about myself with this exercise program – very challenging, but I was able to adapt immediately with the heavy weights. Increasing weight almost seemed effortless. I could truly say that this is only the beginning as I will be continuing my exercise regimen for a lifetime. I am looking forward to utilizing many other exercise programs that Beach Body offers.
