Transformation story

I'm just a regular guy who was out of shape most of my life. In fact, growing up, I was pretty skinny, and I didn’t do much about it till college. I led a sedentary life, and it was mainly because of a focus on schoolwork and work. I also had a heart condition which sometimes made me abnormally tachycardic during exercise, and although it was not life-threatening, this condition greatly discouraged me from exercise in general. It took years before I finally got it treated, and it took a while before I resumed mild exercise again. I did manage to gain some weight over the years (as my embarrassing ‘before’ photo shows), but while I was in the normal weight range, I was far from healthy.
How my life started to change: In short, Beachbody made a huge difference in my life. I’ve done weights and other exercise on and off in the past, but I think it was the lack of a regular workout schedule and improper nutrition that prevented me from making any gains. I started out with p90x a few years ago. I had heard great things about it and decided I needed CHANGE! I couldn’t have been happier with p90x. While my transformation wasn’t dramatic, I did start to lose some body fat and gain some muscle. Unfortunately, I didn’t focus on nutrition at the time, and so my gains were minimal.
What I did after p90X: I took up some running and completed my first 5K and 10K race. My knees didn’t respond well to running, though, and I’ve since decided to give up on running. I didn’t like the stress it was putting on my knees. I later started up p90x2, but as things turned out, I couldn’t finish it due to a relocation and new job.
The journey begins: My move was literally a new beginning in some ways. I was happier with my new location and new job. But most importantly, I was able to find time to exercise again, and this time, I was able to do it more consistently. I was also determined to not let anything interrupt my workout schedule.
I decided I first needed to improve my cardio, so I gave Insanity a try. INSANITY CHANGED MY PHYSIQUE TREMENDOUSLY! Seriously! I cannot say enough good things about it. I was focused, and even when I travelled or visited family, I brought along my exercise videos. My determination paid off: not only did my cardio fitness improve, I also lost a lot of the fat around my belly, can actually see my abs again, normalized my blood pressure, and just felt so much better about myself. Not wanting to stop there, I followed this with the Asylum, which was another amazing program. I earned it!
So what’s next?: I’m hoping to regain some muscle mass and to develop more strength. I'm currently doing Body Beast now and loving it! I’m sure this will be a non-ending venture as I continue to make fitness a part of my life. Thank you Beachbody!

12/24/12 I've been exercising 4-6 days a week since August, and I'm loving it! This is something I've NEVER done before in my life. Beachbody is making me love exercise!
