My transformation story has like so many before me it’s own unique finger print. I really never had that one moment where I realized I was putting on to much weight or completely unhappy with myself. I did however have a crazy way of getting to where I am.

Throughout my short 24 years I have always been an active person. I played sports and worked out religiously in high school. I was taught early through a good friend of mine that you have to work harder then the next guy if you want great things to happen. I was a little on the skinny side until I hit 16 when I really started the weight lifting. While in high school I trained with a former college football player and current high school coach. My friend pushed me to limits I never thought possible.

When I got to college I continued to do the same workouts almost to a T. I did not vary or stray much from what he had taught me and because of this I never really saw many gains after that. Basically four straight years of the same workout week in and week out, no matter how hard you go, gets boring and nets very little results. Every day it seemed that I was trying to find new things to do in order to break over that plateau but I would always go back to the basic format that I knew.

During this time I learned that eating a little better helped me get through those workouts. I was a junk food eater in high school and never put on any weight because I was so active. Once in college I never gained the freshman 20 despite drinking every weekend and being unhealthy. Around sophomore year I started to slowly eat a little better but continue to live up the college life style. I never really saw improvements to my body because of the drinking. It never controlled me but drinking was a way to have fun. I mean I was in college after all and stupid.

While in college I was completing an internship and during that time I was lifting weights one day, same routine, and I went into SVT. For people that don’t know what that means its just a really fast heart rate. I think I hit 210+ maybe higher. This rate stayed consistent until it was reset by the paramedics. I was told had my heart been any weaker I wouldn’t be here to write this. I had surgery a few weeks later to correct this problem and after the surgery my doctor said my heart was good enough to run a marathon.

After the surgery I felt fine physically but started to have anxiety. I would have panic attacks over the smallest things. I did not think I could get anything under control. After being on the fence with P90X and with my doctors approval I decided to go for it. The first few workouts were more nerve racking then anything. Unlike most people I worried about my heart rate getting to high. When it never did I gained a little more confidence and which each week my anxiety slowly passed. By the end I had nothing to worry about. The program truly set me free.

I am now a two time P90X graduate and working on P90X+. I eat extremely healthy and my resting heart rate is 55 which my doctor says couldn’t be any stronger. For my last stress test I actually had to start running because they couldn’t get my heart rate up high e enough to register results. I am in the best shape of my life and I owe my heart to P90X and beachbody.
