Not sure how to summarize what my Beachbody experience has been. All I can say that Beachbody has been like the old friend that is always there for you when times get hard and you need a boost and a kick in the butt. I had always been able to lose and gain pretty easily, up until I was approaching 30. The losing became more difficult and the gaining was a breeze especially when the stresses of life seem to come first. I started Power 90 in 2002 when i was up to my highest non-pregnant weight of 191 lbs. I saw results immediately. My clothes got looser, I felt healthier. But then I began to put everything else first again and once again went back to my old habits of unhealthy eating and not taking the time to take care of myself. From time to time I always went back to my P90 DVD but never got through a complete 90 days, because I allowed myself to not take care of myself. I joined a local gym in October 2005 because I needed an outlet outside of the house to once again focus on taking better care of my body and mind. Although, I was working out regularly, my scale and clothes size stayed the same, then I realized I never really changed my eating habits.
After our vacation March 2006, I decided that I wanted to not only look and feel better; but to be a healthy example for my kids. Especially when it came to eating. Although we are an athletic family and we all play at least 2 sports, I saw that we were out of breath and need to condition our bodies and eat healthier as a family.
I do cardio 4-5 days per week, strength train 3 times per week and do yoga once a week. I've modified my eating slowly each week by cooking healthy meals together.
Over the 12 months I've been up and down on the scale, I put back on 18 lbs and made it up to 157 lb. April 2008, I'd had enough, when I wasn't able to get into my size 6-8's that I'd worked so hard to get into, I'd decided that before I went out shopping for more size 10s that I'd work on my health and fitness. I started slow, taking advantage of any opportunity to walk now. I pack my gym bag, lunch and snacks each night. And in the last 30 days I've managed to trim off 11 lbs. I've started weight training once again and I'm really starting to see amazing results. Turbo Jam continues to keep me motivated when I've had a long day at work and just can't make it to the gym.
