As a registered Dental Hygienist, it may seem funny that I have committed myself to being a Team Beach body Coach. To be perfectly honest with you the two roles overlap each other on a daily basis. In my career as a RDH I counsel patients daily, on the benefits of good nutrition and consistent physical activity on both their dental health and their overall physical health. I have become so

My Transformation stated years ago around the age of 20, or so I thought. I entered my second year of college at 5'2" tall weighing around 135 pounds. Urged by my Dr. as well as my own desire to loose weight I went on a diet (a "CRASH" diet). I returned home for Christmas break weighing only 98 lbs. My parents were devastated at my appearance. I thought I looked fantastic. I thought I was in the best shape of my life. My parents knew differently when I told them that there was something wrong with the car because it was very difficult to shift the gears in our 5 speed car. There was nothing wrong with our car. I just didn't have enough muscle strength to even shift the gears in the car. My muscles had begun to atrophy because I had depleted all my fat and now my body was eating at my muscles for energy. I lost my menstrual cycle for over two years and I was cold all the time. Physically I was in the worst shape of my life no matter what the scale said. Through years of counseling I came to realize that the number on the scale is just that a NUMBER. It is no indication of what kind of physical shape a person is in. A scale can be a great tool for tracking a person's boundaries for proper weight, but it can't be an indicator for how healthy a person is. Presently my weight is 128lbs. I work on a daily basis to make healthy food choices and keep my workouts in proper prospective. Over training can be just as hard on your body as not training at all. I supplement my regular diet with Beach Body Core Omega 3, Core Cal Mag, and Activit Multi-vitamins. I recently started a 90 Day Challenge with some of my friends family and co-workers. My husband and I are following the P90X work out system to reach some of the healthy goals we have set for ourselves.
