I have always been a fitness conscious person. Throughout high school and into college I worked out regularly and my diet was pretty good. At that time in my life I was more about strength and big More ...
I have always been a fitness conscious person. Throughout high school and into college I worked out regularly and my diet was pretty good. At that time in my life I was more about strength and big muscles! So my cardio was almost nothing, my diet was enormous amounts of protein, and my workouts were heavy lifting. This style of health continued and peaked around age 23. Mid twenties came and I got married, finished college and started a carrier in Hospital Administration. If any of you have worked in Clinic setting you probably understand the drug rep provided food. For the next three years I continued with an enormous diet and filled it with pizza, pop, cookies, cakes, pastas, and to top it off I was no longer working out! This lead to a body and mind I was not proud of. My once muscular body had become pathetic. I had become lazy, cranky, and not good at dealing with stress. Around age 27 I became self employed in my home town. This gave me a little more time to start working out again. For the past 4 years my fitness level was half ass, not focused, and was not leading to the body I knew was inside. In 2007 A good friend of mine whom is a couple of years older, has a family, and juggles two careers, somehow seemed to be getting in incredible shape and was always full of energy. He had been talking to me about this new fitness program he had been doing, and finally, I started to listen.
I started my first round of P90X in February of 2008 and was hooked from week one. Finally, I found a program that pushes me to the fitness goals I want; and best of all, it's something my wife and I enjoy doing together. Before, we could not go to the gym together because my workouts and fitness goals were so different from hers that it just didn't work. Going to the gym was not consistent because it meant time away from the family. The P90X program allows us to workout together, push hard, and go at our own pace. She does more reps and focuses on tone. I tone but want to maintain some mass. This program allows for all of it and then some. Better yet, it has put are cardio and agility to new levels.
In 90 days I lost 15 pounds, 16% body fat, 3 inches of my waist, my recovery heart rate is awesome. The best part of this whole thing is I have the energy for my two children, less stress at work, and just an all around better quality of life.
