I am a licensed psychotherapist and professional life coach for over 10 years. My goal for 2009 was to address fitness needs in my life - turning 40 was my wake up call. I started just getting back into the swing of working out and doing some cardio at home and decided it was time to step it up when I came across P90X on TV one night. I was hooked. The experience thus far has been life

I was never actually the athletic type but I did enjoy various martial arts in my younger years up through college. I began to seriously workout in my early 20's and at my best was boasting a 8-9% body fat. To be 20 again !

When I began P90X it was after many years of outright neglect. Years ago my doctor warned me of elevated cholesterol and admonsihed me to do more exercise which at the time any exercise would have been more.

In the latter part 2007 I began to gain weight rather steadily. My job is pretty much seated and very little physical activity is involved. That being said I watched my waist size grow bigger and bigger until I was approaching size 34. While that might not sound big to you, the twenty year old sbove with 9% body fat sported a 29" waist for years.

I decided I would set a fitness goal for 2009. I really was unsure what that meant. I figured well I could use the treadmill again and I had some home fitness equipment. For about 2 months into the year I was feeling good that I was at least committing to something although I could not discern any appreciable difference.

One late night I spotted the P90X infomercial after someone had mentioned it to me during that same week. Perhaps it was destiny. I was intrigued but defintely thought: "I have to join a gym, home fitness doesn't work".

I did some more ressearch and decided it was worth trying if I hated it then it was a little over $100.00 lost and no big deal. I decided to watch all of the workouts in advance to familiarize myself with them. The routines seemed fun. I set a date to start and I did. I never missed a day and 90 days later - I lost 18 lbs, 3.5 inches off my waist to size 30 and over 5% body fat. I am eating healthier, have more energy and stamina and really learned alot about myself and what I am capable of with some commitment and dedication. The TeamBeachbody community of members is a wonderful place to seek motivation and accountability. Through this process I decided to become a Beachbody Coach to spread what I learned to others and hopefully to be as motivating to you as others had been to me.

What's next ? well, just because I'm a P90X graduate two times now, it doesn't mean I stop here. In fact I will be trying out the new RevABS routine in early November 09 and possiby a third P90x or a P90X+ round after that and so on. It is not about looking for a hit and run workout routine - it's about building a healthier lifestyle.
