Hoffman Estates, IL Hey all! I'm in my late 20's and all my life I've been wanting to be toned and not stress out how I look in a bathing suit.
I lost (& kept off) about 35 pounds in the last couple years. It was tough, but I've learned it's all about moderation. I lost (& kept off) about 35 pounds in the last couple years. It was tough, but I've learned it's all about moderation. The way I lost those pounds was cardio, personal trainer, boxing, and a pretty strict diet (at least at the beginning). It took a good three months to lose my first 20 lbs, and then another 6-9 months to get to where I am right now.
I'm hoping P90X will help me lose those last few pounds and help me tone my body... I don't want the jiggle anymore ;)

I was never overweight, but I was never skinny… I always wanted to be fit & have a toned body. My whole journey started about 3 years ago when I started working out with a personal trainer (Matt) at my local gym (now, he’s my good friend – the guy changed my life). By total body training with Matt (3X a week) & doing cardio (2X a week) on my own & sticking to a pretty balanced diet, I lost about 20 pounds… then I took a little break, but did not gain the pounds back. So, then I started training for a half marathon, and by doing a lot of cardio and also boxing, I lost another 15 pounds. That’s about 2 years ago… that’s when I got down to my current 145 lbs. So, since then.. I’ve kept all of it off.. and stayed in the 140-145 zone. I have learned that crash diets, quick fixes, etc. simply do not work (in the long run), you have to change your lifestyle. It’s all about moderation!
Anyway… So, I’ve lost these pounds and I feel fantastic. I have more energy and I’m much healthier! BUT I am still having issues being comfortable in a bathing suit… Don’t get me wrong, I spend the whole summer playing beach volleyball and running around on the beach & getting a beautiful tan :), but I want to feel better doing it!
So, P90X has been in the back of my mind since summer 2010. I had to figure out the right time to do it because I really want to follow it… and do everything right! So, I’ve done a lot of research about it; read reviews, asked friends, planned it out… so, back in November I decided 2011 will be the time to start! It’s winter, it’s cold in Chicago… not much to do. I can stay home, cook & do the exercises. So, December was a month of preparations… getting the protein bars and powder, recovery drinks, getting the resistance bands, and all other things that I will need to make sure I keep on bringing it for 90 days starting 1/3/11. I think the biggest challenge was emotional – will power plays a HUUUUGE role in this… but I had some time to prepare.. so, it’s January & I’m doing it & I plan on doing it for the next 2.5 months!
The goal here – to be in the best shape of my life! & to have fun doing it!
Quite a long story, but it's my story... maybe there are some other people like me? If so, I hope they let me know, so we can BRING IT together!
