Escondido, CA I’m a huge believer that you choose your attitude and life is what you make it. At age 40 I’m very happy with my station in life. I have the most amazing husband of 6+ years (aka Team BeachBody Coach CaleDansbee), I’m a step-mom to four wonderful boys, I love my job of 12 years, I own a house in Southern California (ok, the bank owns most of it, but let’s not be picky), I have an incredible mom, I’m a huge believer that you choose your attitude and life is what you make it. The only thing that wasn’t lining up was the numbers on the scale and the unhealthy path my health was starting to take. Like I’ve done a few times in my life, I decided there was something in my life that needed to change and I’d had enough. It was time to make a change and that’s what I did.
Now that I’ve made that change, (see my transformation story for more details), I’ve joined Team BeachBody to help keep myself motivated and help others along the way. My husband and I had tried P90X a while back and, although we loved the videos, we were just too out of shape to keep up. Now that we’ve lost the weight, I’m looking forward to working out with Tony Horton and checking out the other programs BeachBody has. Oh, and I can’t wait to have those recovery drinks again!
Life is good.

I lost 30 pounds in the latter half of 2011 and am NOT looking to find them again! Even though I always considered myself a healthy person, (generally don't eat fast food, drink soda, or eat a lot of red meat, and never smoke or drink alcohol) those pounds slowly added up over time. I am 5’ tall, yes that’s five feet even, and was 144 pounds the summer I turned 40 and my size 8 pants were uncomfortably tight. I used to call myself petite, but at that point I was just short – nothing else about me was petite.
I had started getting comfortable with the idea that 144 pounds wasn’t THAT bad (we can rationalize anything, can’t we?) but as the big 4-0 approached and I was on the verge of buying size 10 pants, I decided I wasn’t willing to settle. My cholesterol, blood pressure, and body fat percentage were all rising each year along with that number on the scale and my pant size. I finally admitted to myself that I had to do something different and I went to a nutritionist to find out what I needed to change. This was quite an eye-opener and an incredible learning experience.
It turns out I was consuming a lot more sugar (pure sugar directly from sweet coffee drinks or indirectly from fruit and carbs) than I ever realized. So, my main focus was cutting out sugar to get my pancreas working right and focusing on a high protein/low carb diet. First thing was to break that Starbucks habit, which I did cold turkey. After that, it was AMAZING to see just how much sugar I was consuming everywhere else in my diet without even realizing it.
Initially, the majority of the weight loss was accomplished through changing my diet, with very little working out. Now that I'm at my goal weight, I've got some toning to do and want to get into better cardio shape, and of course, maintain my current weight. It’s funny, but now my clothing challenges are at the other end of the, uh, scale. I’m officially a size 2, and STILL have a hard time finding pants small enough to fit! (That’s what I call champagne problems!)
So, this is where Team BeachBody comes in - I'm going to track my workouts in the Supergym and connect with others on the site to help me stay committed!
