I am a 26 year old wife (Terrance) and mother of 2 (Katya and Terrance, Jr.). I have always been a “tomboy” who loved any kind of sport that involved getting dirty and/or sweating. I was even the “skinny” one in my family. At the beginning of my freshman year of high school I was a muscular 145lbs. I was a fit monster: I was in the band, I played basketball and softball, and I was on the drill
I was a fit monster: I was in the band, I played basketball and softball, and I was on the drill team. I basically trained year round, and it showed. I could keep up with the guys, bang out push ups like nobody’s business, and had an endless supply of energy. Did I mention that I could eat WHATEVER I wanted and not worry about gaining a pound? Well, all of that changed my junior year. I was diagnosed with an autoimmune disorder and prescribed prednisone. I gained about 20 pounds fast. For the next three years I would go up and down with my weight, but I never got back down to 145lbs. This was just the beginning of my struggles.
Fast forward a few years, I’d been blessed with a beautiful daughter and a wonderful husband. I still struggled a bit, but was holding strong at around 170. All of that changed with my second pregnancy. I gained 40 pounds and tipped the scales at 210!!! After giving birth, I was still in the 190 range. I started trying to lose, but never seemed to stick with any one plan: Atkin’s, Slim Fast, etc. I joined a gym the beginning of ’08 and finally got down to 160. Unfortunately, with a new work schedule and no babysitter, my visits to the gym decreased until they finally just stopped.
So, here it is December and I’ve gained almost 10lbs back. One night I’m up watching TV and Chalene comes on. Now, I’ve seen this infomercial a thousand and one times, but for some reason it really hit me that night. I’m only 26 years old! I should be in much better shape than this, I should be able to run around with my kids, and I should be able to wear whatever I want (bonus!!). I decided that it was time to get off of my butt and do something about it. I made a promise to myself that ’09 would be my year to finally get in shape. I ordered Turbo Jam on New Year’s Eve, and I’ve been pushing play since I received it. I’m on my way…
