Blue Earth, MN I am a 36 y/o mother of 4 (ages 18, 13, 10, & 8). I am a full time graduated student in a nurse anesthesia program. I love what I'm doing, and only regret not going back to school earlier. I've been a nurse for 16 years now. Prior to school, I was an emergency room nurse who worked weekend nights. We moved our whole family 2 hours from home for my graduate program. 19 months down, 11 more to go!! I am kind of lonely here without any family and not very many friends yet, except for class mates. I hope being more active will help me get out to meet more people, because we do plan on making this town our home.
Grad school has really taken it's toll on me. Are you supposed to gain a freshman 15 in graduated school? I have surpassed that. I weighed 130 in 2004, peaked at 168 and now am 150!
I'm an "apple" which means I carry my weight around my midsection. This is the most unhealthy place to carry weight, it usually means you have a lot of visceral fat also, which means fat around your organs. People with apple shaped bodies tend to have high cholesterol, and are at increased risk for diabetes, heart attack and stroke.
My father had a stroke last year at the age of 55 (his father had multiple strokes and heart attacks) and high cholesterol runs in the other side of my family. Mine has been above 200 most times I've had it checked. I decided that I need to be a healthier person to be able to keep up with my strenuous hours, my children, and to be around for them. I may not have the best genes but I can do something about my lifestyle! Its not just about losing weight to look good, as sometimes my husband thinks. It is about feeling healthier, BEING healthier! The looking good is just a bonus!

I am down 18lbs since starting Power 90 in March and just started a round of P90X.
My husband and I did Power 90 6 years ago completely and I loved the results. I however did not stick with it and am back where I was before starting. We did it halfheartedly a few other times but it wasn't the same. I have to have the support of the message boards and others making lifestyle changes with me. It really helps me stay accountable. I loved tracking our progress before and sharing our journey with others who were going through the same journey. I finished my round of Power 90 that started in March fairly strong. I took a few days off here and there, but kept working out! We started our first round of P90X on 5/31/10! So far, its been hard but doable. I REALLY thought I'd be able to do one pull up before starting, but NOPE. So, that is my first goal. To be able to do one unassisted pull up.
I'm very interested in healthy recipes that don't take hours to create and can be enjoyed by my whole family. I am not the type to fix myself something and them something else! If you have some good ones, send them my way! I have found the recipes in Club Beachbody to be wonderful. I have recently started using the customized meal plan again and the precreated shopping list, you can't get much easier than that! 03/09/10 Day 5 work out is done for today. Did sweat 1/2 and my hubby did it with me. I can tell he struggled, but so did I. He's done it before and I know he can do it again.
