Here is my recent transformation story:
Prior to having two kids, my body weight never fluctuated more than one or two pounds. I was very trim, flexible, and had lots of energy.
During my pregnancies I put on over 75 pounds and continued to carry 20-30 pounds of that over my regular weight afterward. I felt sluggish, unattractive, and often depressed. It was difficult to move and I often felt tired and unmotivated.
Not only was I unmotivated but also I struggled with not having enough time as raising two children as a single parent, holding down a full-time job, and trying to start a side business seemed to eat up all the time that I had.
It wasn’t until I could take it no longer and decided that no matter what I was going to get into better shape that things started to change for me.
I made a commitment to work out for short intervals several times a week using the 10-Minute Trainer DVDs or one of the Hip Hop Abs or Turbo Jam exercise routines. After getting started I also joined a gym for a few months where I would lift a little weight and jog on the treadmill about twice a week.
About this same time I saw an infomercial on the P90X program, and, taking a bold leap into the scary unknown, decided to buy the DVDs for Christmas.
On January 1, 2009 I began the P90X program and followed it faithfully for the full 90 days without missing a single workout. The intensity of the program was exhilarating and scary all at once, but I stuck with it. Within a few weeks I knew I no longer needed the gym membership...pressing Play each day was all it was going to take to get me into terrific shape.
At the end of the 90 day program I was delighted with my results—not only did I experience the great feeling of being in shape and the excitement of being able to fit into clothes that I hadn’t worn in years, but I also experienced two other wonderful, unexpected gifts:
The first was that I felt a powerfully satisfying feeling of accomplishment. The P90X program is an extreme program that kicks your butt. To have completed a full 90 day routine on my own without missing a single day was hugely rewarding and I would highly recommend for anyone to commit to a 90-day program of any kind and see it through in its entirety to gain an understanding of this sensation.
The second was the gift of the restoration of my emotional center. I had no idea how low my energy had become and how depressed it had made me. Getting into shape lifted my spirits immeasurably. Becoming fit again, for me, restored my heart and soul back to the energetic, rightful place that it belongs!
I now enjoy comfortably wearing all the clothes I had been unable to wear for several years plus buying new, sexy things to slink around in. I feel energetic and motivated to exercise and stay fit. I love the feeling of my body moving and the strength in my arms and legs and abs. And I feel wonderfully centered and optimistic.
Currently my personal exercise focus is to further tone my thighs and abs and to gain more strength in my shoulders and back. I invite you to work out with me. 3/31/09 - Completed P90X! Not only do I feel fantastic physically but I have noticed a positive transformation in my emotional state as well--from a place of feeling slightly depressed to full of life and vigor. Additionally I feel a sense of accomplishment that has come from completing such a rigorous routine. Addicting and wonderful! ~~~~~~ 01/01/09 - Started P90X Lean workout routine. ~~~~~~ 11/06/08 - Last day of 30-day Elimination Diet. Weigh in at 151.6 lb.--down 8 lbs. in 30 days. The workouts are no longer challenging, but instead are compelling. ~~~~~~ 10/18/08 - Down to 158 and feeling great. 'Stepped up the cardio time decreased weight lifting to once per week for upper and lower body (usually fit in over two sessions). ~~~~~~ 10/10/08 - 'Lost another 3 lbs. My energy level in increasing my clothes are fitting SO much better. ~~~~~~ My fitness program was launched with the Hip Hop Abs videos, followed by the 10-Minute Trainer videos. I also supplement these workouts with weight training 2-3 times per week, and a small amount of cardio exercise like 10 minutes of jogging or using a cross-crawl machine.
