The P90X and Insanity Beachbody programs changed my fitness and health in amazing ways. I’ve lost 25 pounds, dropped from bursting out of size 36” slacks to getting back into 32’s for the first time in 25+ years and got off ALL prescription meds! No more need for high blood pressure or cholesterol meds!! I can crank out over 430 push ups and 40 pull ups and increasing. I credit my daily mid-morning Shakeology shake with helping me to totally get off caffeine. What a difference!!

My story starts in July, 2009. I’d just had another health scare having been diagnosed with fatty liver disease. The docs said it wasn’t bad but needed to be watched and guess what, I should lose 10 pounds. I was tired of the expanding waistline and figured if I was going to buy new pants they were going to be SMALLER! So I started working out on the dusty elliptical trainer and doing some push-ups. I did that for 1.5 months almost daily and lost ZERO weight.

ENTER P90X!!! I told my coworker Randy that I needed something more. He had recently started P90X and was already seeing results. Randy competed in high school and college lifting weights and wrestling and he was real pumped about P90X.

I started P90X in September, ate clean and reduced my foot intake. 10 pounds melted off me in a month. I even bought another scale because I thought the first one broken! It took me 4.5 months to finish P90X because of work and family. By the end I’d lost 20 pounds and 3 inches off the waist. All the work slacks went to the tailor to be taken IN!

Along the way my coworkers and friends stared commenting on the weight loss. Others at work started doing P90X after seeing my results and hearing me talking about getting fit. Heck, I bet at least one started because he got tired of me talking about it! Some friends at work helped me with diet, supplements and other advice. Then I found a Team Beachbody coach and took it further.

P90X was just the thing I needed. I saw results throughout my body. I developed strength and endurance. I never lifted weights before P90X. Heck, I was always the scrawny GEEK. By the end of the program I had some major gains in what I could lift. I’m still a smaller guy at 5’ 10” but there is a lot of lean muscle on these bones now.

I did another 45 days of P90X then started Insanity. I LOVE Insanity! I’m a high-energy guy, guess you’d call me a Type A personality - always moving. Insanity pushed me to my cardio limit and took me further. My core and legs are stronger than any time in my life – including my 20’s. By the end I beat the fit test numbers of the folks on the video in 5 out of the 8 exercises. Ha! Take that Tonya and Chris!

Then I did a P90X + Insanity hybrid. With this best of both worlds I got past weight and strength plateaus! 430+ push-ups? At the beginning I could do 1, that’s right ONE, pull up. At the end I cranked out 41. And that’s the jumping off point for the next round! With this exercise, Shakeology and proper nutrition I’ve gotten to 158 pounds (I started at 184). That’s the first time I’ve been below 160 in 25+ years.
