....After years of playing a multitude of sports from elementary through college, life happened and my health and fitness got pushed to the back burner. As a result, in January 2009, at 44 years old, I found myself in the emergency room early one Sunday morning hooked up to a web of heart monitors and undergoing a series of heart tests.

The scare of that day was a stark reminder to me and my family of just how brief life really is. Fortunately, there were no problems found that day. Those events however, made the words from the Bible in James 4:14 come life. It says, "You do not know what will happen tomorrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapor that appears for a little time and then vanishes away."

Following the various tests, the doctor got my blood work back, but knowing it probably wasn’t too good, I put the office visit off for several months. Then, after eventually receiving the results of my blood work, I was told to either loose some weight and get in shape or go on medication. I could tell by his words that most people would fail in their attempts to loose the weight. So, when the weather improved my wife and I began walking and I lost a few pounds, but not enough to satisfy me, let alone the doctor.

In August 2009, my friend, and now coach, Bear Shelton, called and we began talking. Although I had seen the P90X program on TV and had considered it several times, I had yet to try it. However, after he shared with me the tremendous results he had experienced and the other incredible testimonies I heard, I knew I had to go ahead and try it.

I'm excited about starting the P90X program and plan to go back to the doctor after my 90 day experience. Frankly, I’m looking forward to seeing my doctor’s response.
