I am 42 years old, and approaching my 43rd birthday in July. I work full-time as a therapist helping teens and their families, and I love my job. I still have a few more major things to accomplish in my life, mainly establishing business of my own, and taking a few dream vacations. Sometimes I have lapses in my consistency to exercise regularly and be as healthy as I’m capable of being. I want I am 42 years old, and approaching my 43rd birthday in July. I woke up one day in February (2007), did a reality check, and there I was, 156 pounds. This was 20 pounds heavier than I was 1 year earlier. The creep up weight gain had crept up! I thought about how five years earlier, I had reached nearly 200 pounds and felt awful. So, that thought and 20 pounds heavier really concerned me, as I knew that I had battled my weight many times before and lost miserably in some instances. I thought about what had changed in a year , and what—if anything—could I do different to change course. I had a car accident in August 2006, and from that point forward, it seemed my body got out of whack. The same routine of exercise wasn’t cutting the mustard anymore. One Saturday morning on March 3rd, I was looking for something to watch on TV and saw a P90X infomercial. I believe I was hooked the first 10 minutes while watching it. It seemed as if it was just want I needed to kick this weight gain in the butt before I found myself in yet another losing battle. Afterwards, I went online to look at the site, became more excited and ordered it. I signed up for MBD and went to the message boards & patiently waited for P90X. There I found a group of women who were starting on March 19th and decided to join that support group and start on that date. I was so excited that I began to log into WOWY and begin logging my physical activity before I received my shipment. I even begin to modify my diet a little. I started P90X on March 19th weighing 152 pounds. The first week doing P90X, I say that in addition to the X routines, I also did curse aerobics! I found myself talking to myself during the routines and saying, “What the @!#$!% did I get myself into!” Some of my attempts to do the exercises in the beginning were—well, dismal! I’m talking about 2 reps! I remember reading someone else’s transformation story and their saying that they felt worse than when they were at basic training in the Marine Corps. Long being out of the Marine Corps myself, I found myself thinking the same thing. I committed to eating better, and not weighing myself until each recovery week. After Phase 1, I weighed 147 pounds, and lost another 3 pounds after Phase 2. Not big numbers, but I was really becoming more fit and gaining more lean muscle. I could see it in my pictures, and best of all, feel it in my clothes! I had become so use to the hurry up and see results in like—well yesterday. I had to psychologically get over that hump, and over time—results kicked in. P90X was a lesson in patience and being committed not to a temporary or lightening fast change, but a lifestyle change. I feel so proud of myself making it through all 3 phases and not succumbing to thoughts of something magically happening overnight. I didn’t have perfect days every day throughout P90X, but I stayed the course and feel successful. I'm much stronger, and I now make it through every P90X routine. I’m now down to 141 pounds--11 pound lost. I've lost tons of inches—over eleven, with four inches off my abs alone (thanks AbripperX!). I had a personal goal (regarding weight loss), that I still am moving towards, and will achieve. I feel that after doing P90X, I can make it through mostly any exercise! I’ll be starting another adventure with P90X AFTER my vacation and enjoying my new swim suit!
