Many people spend weeks, months, even years claiming they want to change their lives, I know I did! Make up your mind that nothing is more important than how you feel now because now is everything. Now is the power of me (YOU)! You might as well start somewhere and it might as well be now..because as you know, tomorrow never comes.
I'm 29 years old and live in Southern California. (originally from Idaho) I was married in September 2005 and together we have a beautiful 2 year old daughter who brings much joy and sunshine to our lives. I work as a receptionist at a skincare salon in Beverly Hills. For as long as I can remember, I've struggled with my weight and poor food choices. After having a baby I quickly realized the need within me to not only get back in shape but to provide a healthy example for my daughter as she grows.
I went back to the gym but found it difficult to fit into my schedule and when I DID go was frustrated that I had to wait my turn to use certain equiptment. My husband came accross p90x and brought it to my attention. I was immediately intrigued by the intensity and the fact that the workouts could be done at home. I knew it would prove to be a huge challenge both mentally and physically but I was ready! Spring of 2008 was my first round. Making my way to the message boards I found great support and motivation and learned about the concept of eating clean. After making it over half way through the 90 days, I let summer vacations, etc. get in the way. October 20, 2008 I recommitted. I was so determind to survive the holidays that I brought my dvd's, yoga mat, weights, etc. with me as I traveled home for Thanksgiving and Christmas. I'd made up my mind that I was going to succeed and that's exactally what I did! February 2009 I finished my first official round and cannot tell you what an amazing sense of accomplishment it was! Never in my entire life have I felt so strong and full of energy! Working out and eating right gives you so much more than a beautiful physique. You'll soon find that you're:
-rarely sick -in a fabulous mood -energized -more patient -prolonging your life and the quality of it

As a small child I watched my mother struggle with weight, poor food choices and fad diets. Learning by example, at a very young age I asked to diet with her.
I was always an active child and in the fourth grade I started dance class. Immediately it was decided, I wanted to be a dancer when I grew up! My friend's father made the comment, "Well if she wants to be a dancer, she'd better lose weight!" The comments also came from friends, family and classmates. "Bubble-butt" was a common nick-name for me in grade school. By the sixth grade I tipped the scales at 104lbs. The summer before Junior High was when I made the decision to limit my meals to one a day and exercise frequently. Returning to dance and school that fall I was pleased to find those comments had turned into compliments from adults and peers alike. Unfortunately, the truth came flooding out about how people felt about me before losing weight. I was forced to stomach things like, "Boy you sure were______" (insert adjective here) Though I'd smile, inside I was torn apart and the fear of gaining weight grew. Slowly I began eating more regularly and the pounds crept back. I lived everyday with the thought, "If only I were skinny..."
With pregnancy, I wrongfully took it as excuse to eat and gained 41lbs. Even a year after giving birth I'd find myself saying, "I JUST had a baby." to justify to others (mainly myself) as to why I was still 20lbs. overweight. I did what most people would do and joined a gym.
It wasn't until stumbling upon p90x that the madness began to dissipate. Not only has p90x taught me dicipline, dedication and drive, I've also learned to cook! All areas of my life have greatly improved. I believe when you take care of 'you' everything else has a way of falling into place. Positivity is very contagious and now I see others around me picking up on my good habits. I will forever be grateful for finding beachbody and the fabulous people associated with it! Life is a journey not a destination!!!
