When I was a teenager, I started playing tennis, and as I got older and heavier, the weight really started to take a toll on my body. If I didn't stretch out real good before I played, I would have severe back pain. My knees and ankles were always sore. After matches, I would sit down and literally not be able to move for an hour or so. I was in real bad shape.
My wife and I decided to try the Atkins diet and started out on our low-carb journey. In six months, I was able to lose over 50 pounds. At my lowest, I weighed 148 pounds. My waist size went from 38" down to 30"! For once in my life, I felt that I was a little too thin. Though I could move much better and get more balls back in play, I felt I had lost some stamina, so I eased off the low-carb life style until I got back up to 155 pounds. That felt just about right. I've managed to keep most of the weight off but was surprised when I weighed myself a couple of weeks ago and discovered that I had crept back up to 163.
That's when I decided that I was going to try to get into the best shape of my life. P90X looked a little too intense for me, and my goal isn't to get really ripped. Just want to improve my muscle tone and overall fitness. I also have a high-stress job that dominates every work day. When I saw the infomercial for Ten Minute Trainer, I told myself that I could dedicate 10 minutes every day to get in shape.
I just finished my first week of TMT, and I'm feeling great (sore, but great!). I've set up my gear in the garage, got a portable DVD player, and have attached the waist-resistance band to my cabinets. I'm getting up at 4:30am every weekday and doing two different sets each morning. We'll see how it goes!!!
