Well where should I start? For as long as I can remember I have been overweight and wishing I wasn't. I have always been a little active, but never in shape. In high school I used to wish I was a cross country or soccer star instead of a choir and drama chick. Now as an adult I still feel the same way!! I am still wishing I was a marathon runner or a triathlete. Still thinking I would like to learn to play soccer and take karate with my kids. So...here I am. I took the plunge and signed up with some friends to do the Tough Mudder here in Colorado in June. Its a 12 mile long helluva obstacle course modeled after British Special Forces training. This year its going to held at Beaver Creek Ski Resort with a course that traverses up and down the ski slopes. I am scared to death and am determined to at least FINISH it. So I am training hard with two goals in mind; 1) finish the Tough Mudder and 2) lose some weight and get super fit along the way.

I have tried in the past to only have goals of weight loss and a vague "get in better shape" and I lose motivation pretty quickly. I think the goal of doing the Tough Mudder is a good one for me to work towards and hopefully the constant need to improve my fitness in order to just finish this bugger will help me.
