I just turned 39 and for the past 25 years I have been trying to eat right, get fit and live better. I started working out at a gym in Germany at age fifteen. Back then there were not a lot of women at a gym - especially not the one I joined: it had the charm of a basement with grubby, ripped carpets, rusty equipment, and burly, middle aged guys in striped tights, ripped shirts, and big ol’ pipes. My parents were a bit concerned, but they realized how much I wanted to start an exercise routine and Franz, the owner, assured them that he would keep an eye on me and take me under his wing (biceps). I loved going to that gym so much, I pretty much spent all my free time there. I went 6 times a week for 1-2 hours and for a while all I eat was skinless chicken breast, oats and fat free yoghurt. I started loosing a bit of weight and building muscle, but I never got the definition and figure I was longing for. I hated aerobics classes and riding the stationary bike, so I pretty much just lifted weights - heavy weights. Even when I broke my ankle at age 18 and my fibula and tibia bones were screwed together, my crutches and I could be found at the gym the day after I was released from the hospital. Moving Away. At age 21 I moved to Vancouver, Canada. The first thing I looked for was a gym, but all I found were expensive, neon lit, chrome plated pick-up joints. I got a job at an animation studio which I loved so much that I completely forgot about the gym. Over the next few years I slowly put on a bit of weight, cut my hair ‘Vancouver Style’ and looked nothing like ‘the old me’. At 24 I met my husband Kurt. Within weeks of meeting I left for Los Angeles - the city of beautiful people and beach bodies. If you think that moving to 90210 wasn’t bad enough, moving to Manhattan Beach shortly after definitely added insult to injury. It made me realize that I couldn’t spend hiding my jiggly legs in jeans forever. A Good Start. Living only 30 steps from the beach kicked me back into gear. I started doing exercises in front of the TV - every day for about 30 minutes. I also went for walks on the beach and started roller blading. One day, when I went to buy a bathing suit, one of the girls asked me what I was doing, because ‘I looked great’ she said. It seemed like what ever I was doing made a difference, but when I started my own business everything started to go south again - quickly. I was back to square one. Making a Change. In the first few month of staring my online business I lost about 15 lb.: STRESS - and I do not recommend it to anyone. We needed more space to expand so we moved to San Diego, where I ran a fairly successful business out of our home. We soon had to move again to expand and we opened a retail store. I was working 7 days a week for 6 years and when my hear palpitations were getting out of control and my doctor subscribed Beta-blockers I realized that it is time to make a change. A New Beginning. I decided to sell my business to relieve some of the stress. This was a big step to a better life, but I was still not getting fit or eating better. One night while watching late night TV I came across a P90X infomercial - a 90 day extreme home fitness program. I went online and checked it out: 12 DVDs @ 45-90 minutes each. It did look way to intimidating and that was way more time I was willing to commit to. So, I ordered Power Half Hour, a DVD with 5 30-minute workouts - perfect. I still wanted to do P90X, so I made a deal with myself that I would work my way up. After PHH I used P90 and then P90 Master Series. It took 12 months for me to feel ready for P90X and I could hardly wait to hear the UPS truck back up our driveway - I never looked back. Decide. Commit. Succeed.. I decided to get fit, I committed to a program, and I succeeded. And so can you. I became a Coach after seeing lasting results and hearing and seeing endless success stories of people that have lost weight and improved their health and all over life. Ask any Beachbody fan and see their face light up, and I bet you won’t be able to get a word in. Looking back I wish I would have had a coach to turn to at times with questions I had. Let me be your coach - I can help you choose a program that is right for you, keep you motivated and make you succeed. How much does this cost you ask? Nothing. Call me today - or night - and you will never look back.
