Memphis, TN I'm winning the war! Thanks BB for giving me the weapons I need to fight - not only an exercise and nutrition plan, but delicious supplements to keep me on my battle plan: Shakeology, by far my most nutritious meal of the day; the protein bars satisfying my sweet tooth and chocolate cravings; and the recovery drink....makes all the workouts worthwhile!
To be honest, I throw a battle here and I'm winning the war! To be honest, I throw a battle here and there, but not more than one day a week (usually only one meal) - then it's back to war zone with my battle plan in mind and in hand.
I've lived all over the US (TN, IN, AZ, CO, GA, FL, OR, MS & MO). Of all the places I've lived, my favorite is a toss up between Oregon and Colorado - I've visited Flagstaff, AZ enough to put it in that category of places I'd love to live. Nothing against Memphis (I was born and raised here), but the terrain and climate made AZ, OR and CO conducive to an outdoor-active lifestyle. Memphis....not so much, and I've always enjoyed staying active outdoors.
One thing I've done most of my life is run. I think running is an acquired taste - once you've acquired it, you're hooked. Running kept me thin, until a few years ago - I started suffering from stress fractures. The worst occurred during marathon training - 2 weeks before the marathon, an MRI showed stress fractures in both femur neck bones. That injury put me on crutches for 6 weeks - that year, I spent 4 months on crutches or in an ortho boot. That's when the weight gain started. Over the next two years, I ballooned from under 170 to 215. I recently lost 37 lbs (without running) and have myself in good enough shape that tomorrow (June 15, 2009) I start P90X.
Well, I made it through 10 weeks of P90X in that first attempt (never missed a workout). Little did I know that I'd reinjured myself running - femur neck bones again. I ran almost 150 miles in August - I pushed too hard. That injury kept me out until October 12, 2009.
I started P90X and Shakeology on the same day - October 12,2009. Currently, I'm in week 11. I started this session at 190 (put on quite a bit of weight being sedentary) - yesterday, I weighed 179 doing only P90X workouts - thanks Shakeology and the P90X nutrition plan! I can't wait for my 90 day pics and to start another round....

I just finished my first round of P90X (January 2010). I got good results. In 90 days, my body fat went from over 27% to under 22%. I lost 13 lbs of fat and gained 4 lbs of muscle. I consider those More ...
I just finished my first round of P90X (January 2010). I got good results. In 90 days, my body fat went from over 27% to under 22%. I lost 13 lbs of fat and gained 4 lbs of muscle. I consider those good results for the beginning of my BeachBody fitness journey. The DVDs make the workout side of the equation easy - the real variable is the diet. I've got the diet pretty much figured out, but I'm still tweekin' it.
I love the P90X workout. I'm goin' to continue with the classic workout - in addition, I'm addin' Insanity. As a "former" runner, I have a very strong cardio base, and I don't want to lose it. Insanity looks like it will keep my cardio base high, and, since P90X only had 2 days of cardio, I want to add more cardio. This should do the trick.
As usual, I'll keep my profile updated with my progress - who knows, I may even get ambitious and start a blog - that'll be a first for me!
