I've always been fairly athletic. Throughout my childhood my mom kept me in a variety of sports. I carried my active lifestyle through to adulthood.
In 2005, however, everything changed. My fiance and I were doing Power 90. In addition to that, I was playing football, something I had always wanted to do. I was in the best shape of my life and down to a healthy 130 lbs (I started at 150), lighter I've always been fairly athletic. Throughout my childhood my mom kept me in a variety of sports. In 2005, however, everything changed. My fiance and I were doing Power 90. In addition to that, I was playing football, something I had always wanted to do. I was in the best shape of my life and down to a healthy 130 lbs (I started at 150), lighter than I had been in high school. Unfortunately, as anyone who plays any kind of field sports will tell you, wet fields and cheap cleats don't mix. After 23 years of not even a sprain, I tore my ACL. Exercise wasn't just fitness to me, it was my way of coping with stress. Unable to anything I was used to doing, I found myself doing something I vowed I would never do, turning to food for comfort. It took a full six months for my knee to stop hurting, and almost a year for me to be able to do anything that resembled normal sports.
To compound the issue, I had started school and was working a job that required crazy hours. I barely had time to think, much less eat properly or exercise. Slowly my waist began to tell the story. I didn't notice 140 come or go. When I got to 150, I thought, oh, I was here before, I can lose the weight again. But after almost a year of no physical activity, I found the habit hard to break. I pretended not to notice how tight my clothes were. When I couldn't get into my usual sizes, I thought, I'll buy this then lose the weight.
Reality set in when I casually stepped on the scale in Dec 2006. I was a whooping 164 lbs. I had never been that heavy in my life. I decided to make a change immediately. I tried Power 90 once more but found that despite my year long reprise, I was barely breaking a sweat. In Jan 2007, I ordered Power 90X. I read the literature, scanned, the videos, and got intimidated, despite the fact that I passed the fit test. Finally, I figured, what did I have to lose but the 30 plus lbs I had put on since my injury. So, here I am=)

Slow and steady wins the race, right? I've been incorporating exercise into my life more. I started off doing SI6 express off and on back in April once I saw that I had ballooned up to 167. I saw limited results though, because I wasn't consistent and I hadn't made any changes in my diet. I made minor tweaks to my diet and exercised a bit more and saw better results.
Finally, in August, I decided to commit to working out at least 5 days a week and eating properly. I did Slim in 6 for the first 3 weeks and have now been doing power 90 4-5 days a week along with Slim in 6 one day out of the week. I'm down nearly 20 lbs and only 8 lbs away from my goal weight.
Wish me luck!
5/30/09 I haven't been nearly as consistent as I had hoped. I plan on finishing up strong though, and moving on to a much more consistent round 2 of P90X.
6/15/2009 I've decided to start power 90x over completely.
