I am 29 and a firefighter for the city of Knoxville. I live in a house full of women. My wife, Amy, is a teacher at a Christian school and we have 2 beautiful little girls...Mackenzie (2 1/2) and Miley (1).

I’ve had 4 knee surgeries since high school; as a result I now have severe arthritis in both knees. I also have lower back issues that I have been battling for about a year now, which I am confident is caused in part by my weight. I am only 29 years old and most times I feel like an old man. I love getting out in the yard and letting my little girls chase me around but there are days where the pain in my knees and back is unbearable. My biggest fear is that I won’t be able to run and play with my children at all in the future. I had put on 50 pounds since high school and I know that it didn't help my knees and back at all.

After watching my mother transform her entire life by doing her Beachbody workouts I finally decided to follow her lead and get in shape again. I figured that if she can be in the best shape of her life at the age of 50, then why can't I at 29? So I've been doing everything she has instructed me to do and I am really seeing a difference by using P90X! Not only am I losing weight, I am strengthening my muscles, which help to take the pressure off of my knees and relieving alot of my lower back pain. I am feeling stronger everyday. I'm only 60 days into the program and am already seeing great results. I can't wait to see what I can achieve after 90 days!

I was also diagnosed with Barrett’s esophagus in June of 2007. This was a HUGE wake-up call for me as it is a precursor to esophageal cancer and is usually only diagnosed in people over the age of 60 years old. I have learned to make better food choices and I am doing that with the help of Michi’s ladder.

Being a firefighter is an extremely demanding job. I need to be in good physical condition. It’s really hard living at the fire hall, because we have quite a bit of down time (which is a good thing for the community. However, there is always "porn food" around. I am trying to help educate the boys at the firehall about fitness with what I am learning from Tony and the Beachbody website, and that is to eat healthy and exercise to live longer. We are now more conscious of the meals that we plan and have also started walking for 1 hour every shift!
