I blogged my first P90X below. Had my ups and downs but I kepted it up and saw AMAZING results. Here is a summary. Jan 2011 I weighted in at 215 lbs. Did "the" low carb diet for 6 weeks. Had blood test done and Tri's were at 415, HDL was at 23 and couldn't measure the LDL due to the high Tri's. Stopped that right away. Hopped on the P90X wagon the end of Feb and stuck to it. Biggest thing is I changed the way I eat. And of course got lots of exercise. So today is my day 90. I have lost 42 lbs and weigh 173. Had blood work last week, total cholosteral is at 112. LDL at 78, HDL at 23 (still low but working on it). My blood pressure went from 135/90 to 120/73. I was suppose to be taking meds for that but haven't for years. ALSO I was diagnosed with sleep apenia years ago. And I am please to say that has totally disappeared. Bottom line. Eat right and exercise. Good luck to you and stay motivated!!!! Wk1 - dropped 5 lbs. Seems like all I do is eat. Guess I need to eat more. Pretty sore but a good sore. Man did I love the StretchX on day 7!!! Wk2 - Saw definent improvement this week. Being able to get through half the reps of AbRipperX was biggest accomplishment. Oh yeah, did one unassisted chin-up too. Weight down one lbs which I am ok with. I am already on my last belt hole. Wk3 - Exercise keeps improving but no weight loss this week. Resting heart rate down to 57. Started this whole thing at 62. End of next week I'm going to measure everything since I didn't do the before. Shame on me. Wk4 - Made it through recovery week and looking forward to maxing it out this week. I am disappointed in my 30 day photos. I was hoping my belly didn't stick out farther than my chest, but oh well. It took me 45 years to get this way, I guess 30 days to reverse it is a little to much to ask. After Kenpo this past week was the first time I actually thought I could make it through this program. I am pumped up about it. Total weight loss so far is 10 lbs. Cloths are baggy on me. Have a feeling this journey is going to cost me more than I thought. Got to buy new cloths when I'm done. All my XL shirts look dumpy and the 36 jeans are loose. Had to put another hole in my belt! I don't care.... BRING IT!!!! Wk5 - Another week in the books. Time seems to be flying by. Lost 2 more lbs this week. Also started the Peak Results & Recovery Formula drink and the Peak Health Formula vitamins. That drink is soooo good. And what a rush it gives. The blood sugar increase it gives after a hard workout is perfect! Also noticed something new this week. I have to say in public that my beautiful wife has been correct all these years. My feet are ugly! Noticed that during Yoga this past week. Yeah Yoga! I actually did ALL of it for the first time. Well except that torso twist where you grap the hands behind your back. If I ever do that I will probably pass out from over excitement. And I can actually do 2 unassisted pull-ups. Making progress!!!!!! Wk6 - Great week! Other than stupid me, got a sun burn on my back working out in the yard Thursday. Had yoga that night. Hurt like crazy but made it through. Friday was legs and back. Made it half way through until the second wall squats. I slide on the wall and scraped my back against the cinder block. Got mad, felt pain, stopped and went to the ab chair thingy. That hurt too, with the cloth on my back. So I went upstairs and ate 4 slices of pizza. I can here Tony now, "Pizza..Bad!" Felt bad about it so I did the rest of the workout on Sunday vice the treat I usually get which is the Stretch. But...still lost a pound. Wk7 - Crazy week. Had to rearrange some workouts due to family emergency's but got them all in and did a 2.5 mile run on top of that. But didn't get my beloved Stretch done. Down 1 more lb. Bought a pair of 34" jeans that will probably be to big when I am finished, but I needed something. I can't wait to see the 60 day photo's. Feeling really good about taking them. Wk8 - Done with the second recovery week. Changed things up a little. Wanted to use my TreadClimber some so used it a couple days vice one of the scheduled yoga and core synergetics workouts. Lost one more lb. Also had to buy new dress pants for Easter but it was a fun night out with the wife. Went shopping and had a good well deserved dinner. She is getting pretty fit too and is looking forward to doing round two with me. 60 day photos are this week. Still looking forward to it. Time is flying buy now. Actually having fun with the nutrition and the workouts. Thanks BeachBody and Tony!!! Wk9 - Posted the 60 Day photos. Bigger difference than what I expected it would be. So this week was a little odd. Lost 3 lbs but don't feel very energized during workouts. I don't think I am getting enough protein at the right times and should probably up my carbs too. Did research and decided to eat a light complex carb sandwich with a little protein 1 hour before a workout (turkey on whole wheat bread or a performance power bar). Then within 30 minutes after a work out get about 30 gm of Whey, 60 gm of simple carbs (actually dextrose), 5 g of L-Glutamine (amino acid), and 5 g of Creatine. Can mix the dry powers together in seconds. Should be a good after workout drink to up my carbs and proteins more. Wk10 - A great week. New before and after carb/protein consumption has been fantastic! Got all the workouts in on time and even did a 5 mile run on Thursday. Not a fast run but a steady pace to keep in my "zone" with the heart rate. Lost 2 more lbs. Think I might actually make my weight goal which is well beyond my wildest dreams. And decided to start Insanity right after this. Wanted to take a week off but also want to coinside my recovery week to my vacation week. So no days off and going right to Insanity on the 30th of May. Yipee! Wk11 - Awesome week!!! Good workout, finishing strong. Good nutrition. Loving it still. A little more weight loss. I can't ask for anything better than that! Wk12 - Ok week. Finished up above average I guess. Not going to make my weight goal but heck, I have lost over 40 lbs since the beginning of the year and over 20 of that was with P90X. I am very pleased. I feel fantastic and so much looking forward to INSANITY!!!! Wk13 - Today is Day 90!! Officially a P90X grad. Didn't finish as strong as I wanted to. Had more family issues and missed two workouts. And decided to use the Insanity workouts vice the recovery week. Managed to get 3 Insanity workouts and a 5 mile run in. Got close to my goals and that makes me extremely happy. This has been the absolute best nutrition and exercise journey EVER. Thanks go out to wife for putting up with me and Beachbody for having products that can keep me motivated and interested in getting and staying fit.
