ELMWOOD PARK, NJ My name is Melissa. I am a 27 year old mother of two. Wile growing up, I was always overweight. I also never thought anything about it. I was semi-active. I played golf in high school and loved to downhill ski. There were even exercise machines in the house, i.e. treadmill, eliptical, weight machine. I even used them a little, but I never adjusted my diet.
Well, that changed when I decided to My name is Melissa.
Well, that changed when I decided to join the Army. I started to exercise everyday and went on the Atkins diet. It worked and I lost over 30 pounds and was able to join. Being overweight came back once I actually started training. My next attempt was after I had my first child. I had to or else I wouldn't be able to get promoted. I lost a little, but then I got deployed. That actually helped because when you get deployed, there aren't many things to do except exercise to help pass the time. So while deployed, I once again had gotten down close to my goal weight which allowed me to get promoted. Then, I came home which is when I gained the weight back again. I realized that even though I kept doing the weight-loss rollercoaster, I never made the changes in my diet to make the weight loss last.
Now, I just had my second child and I want to make this change a permanant part of my life so that the weightloss stays.
I started my weightloss journey this time in the states and it continues once again in Iraq. It is amazing to see how many people focus on losing weight or building muscle when deployed. The fun part now is the fact that my platoon plus some others (about 15-20 people) are doing Insanity as a group! Now that is insane. But, I am getting to see what hard work is doing to the people that I see everyday. They didn't believe me when I said that Insanity will melt off fat. Now, they are seeing it and we are only on the second week (29DEC09). I am getting to help people I work with everyday and it is amazing.

I have been doing Beachbody programs since June 2009. I started off not liking myself, the way I looked and felt. I knew that my outside made me look like a lazy fat slob who didn't really care about herself or take care of herself. Now, I may not be at my goal yet, but I can see the improvements. I've lost about 20 pounds so far. I'm down a pant size. I don't look PREGNANT anymore. I have a long way to go but I have great people here to help me along.
