We home educate and spend most of our time at home. I never knew how busy life could get and we don’t even leave our house. Sometimes I say it has been a busy day and people always assume I was out of the house running from place to place and are surprised when I say “we stayed home and lived life.” I have always been aware of the importance of good eating habits, not to much junk food, and exercise. When I was growing up it was very important to my parents that I was thin. This importance was motivated by a maternal history of obesity. However, my parents well intended concerns, lead to years of yo-yo dieting and excessive food restrictions. In fact at one point I would pride myself on not eating anything except a bagel for the whole day until dinner. I was on the tennis and swim teams, jogged and logged hours on the Stairmaster. In college I was known as the girl with the salad dressing because I wouldn’t eat the dressings provided by the campus food service. I never felt good about my body unless I was very restrictive with my eating and my stomach was flat leaving my hip-bones to stick out. In college and grad school I continued to work out on the Stairmaster, bike and treadmill, yes, I was a cardio girl, and swam several times a week. My restrictive eating also continued. I was never overweight but also never content with my physique. When I moved to the mountains after grad school, gyms were few and far between so I swam at the local indoor pool, walked, biked and even owned a Cloud Walker. So you can see, for me, working out was never a difficulty, it was always the nutrition side that was and is my struggle. I enjoyed sweets and carbohydrates and was unbalanced with protein and I feared fats. I was of the belief that if it said no fat or low fat it must be what I need to eat. I kept up this routine until baby number 3, when my husband saw a Beachbody infomercial and ordered P90X. I was so intimidated to try an extreme home fitness program so he bought me Kathy Smith’s Project: You. I followed the program and nutrition guide and lost all of the “baby weight” and then some. I followed Project: You with Power Half Hour, P90, Slim in 6, P90X+ and then finally P90X. P90X, “the mother of all workouts” made me feel strong and confident in my physical capabilities. Then Insanity came out, now there was a new “mother.” I was excited about this new workout and watched video trailers and YouTube videos. I was a little scared but embraced it whole heartily and loved it. Now there were days when I thought “this is insane, why am I doing this?” However, no matter how hard the workout was and no matter how exhausted I was after, I was always thankful to start my day with Insanity. Insanity gave me the best results to date. Insanity left my arms more toned and defined that any other program. I was hooked. I love that Insanity is not only extreme cardio but builds muscle at the same time using no equipment only my own body weight. My husband and I workout together, it is a way for us to be together and encouraged one another to keep going in our active and sometimes sleep deprived lives. We love our children and want to give them the best life possible and part of that is teaching them to take care of their bodies. Our children know about carbohydrates, fats and proteins. Our children do more biking, running, hiking, playing and swimming than playing video games or watching T.V. Our children love good wholesome foods and actually cringe when they hear about fast-food. But nevertheless, they are children and love treats and sweets, don’t we all. In fact that is why my husband and I workout, because we enjoy good food and want to be able to eat with enjoyment not guilt. Sundays are homemade pasta nights at our house and we all eat to our hearts’ content knowing that we have worked and will continue to work it off in the continuing days. I see so many moms stuck in their “baby weight” or stuck in their “to busy, to tired lives” and I see these same moms unhappy, embarrassed, and dissatisfied with their health and appearance. I see them desiring to exercise, desiring to be more healthy and slim but I see them stuck. At home fitness has been my answer to all of the excuses. Since we home-school, we are always home. I haven’t let home be my excuse but rather being at home has now been an asset to leading a better life. I still struggle to follow nutrition guides, I love to bake and eat sweets, but I start each day desiring to eat clean. I now know what a good balanced meal is and strive to set and serve that example to my family. We love Beachbody; it is a great company and has brought knowledge, understanding, challenge and opportunity to our lives----thanks!!!! My Progress My fitness goal: Transformation story

I started using Beachbody programs in January 2007, after the birth of my 3rd child. My husband discovered Beachbody during a very early morning infomercial with our fussy newborn. He purchased P90X, and me feeling that the time commitment was too much selected Project You. After the 90 days I was back down to my pre-pregnancy weight and continued to lose 2 more pounds that summer. I was very happy with my 124 pounds and my husband kept commenting how different my legs looked. After Project You I purchased Power Half Hour and combined that with walking to maintain my results. In winter 2008 we began P90 and I became pregnant with baby #4. We completed P90 in February and then I took the plunge, prego and all, into P90X and P90X+. I have really enjoyed the workouts and felt very successful with them until about 31 weeks of pregnancy. So now I am using a combo of Power Half Hour, Slim in 6, P90 and walking. I look forward to seeing what this body looks like once all the baby water(as we kindly call it) melts away. May 17, 2009--My baby is now 8 months old and the warmer weather is here and I still cannot fit comfortably into my summer clothes. I am 2 weeks into ChaLean Extreme with the hope of dropping 5 pounds and being more comfy in my clothes. I am enjoying the workouts and finding myself wanting recovery drink after each time. It is different to be doing so much weight trainning rather than cardio but it is a good change. I like 2 things that ChaLean says--eat like an athlete and train like an athlete. I have never considered myself to be an athlete,I'm just someone who works out and stays active because I value my body and how it looks. The other thing I like that Chalene says is being a tighter package. I think that being toned and firm is great, so whether I lose the 5 pounds or not I look forward to a tighter me.
