De Forest, WI Hello and welcome!
My fitness goals actually started about 10 years ago when I saw a magazine in a grocery store advertising a program where all I had to do is work out for 12 weeks and I had a chance to win a million dollars! Think about that for a second...what could you do with a million dollars? Well let's just say it was enough to finally get me up off my keester and moving for real!
I Hello and welcome!
I went through the 12 weeks and followed the plan to a "T". I never cheated (except for my 1 cheat meal a week). Results? I lost weight and went from 28% body fat down to 17%! I was elated! No, I didn't win the million dollars but I was a winner nonetheless!
Then, I hit a few bumps in the road. My training partner decided she "needed a break". I thought, yeah, I worked really hard too and it probably wouldn't be a bad idea to rest for a couple of weeks.
So, I rested and found that I didn't gain anything right away (I was pretty active back then.) Then I decided to start a new high intensity program. This one focused on high weights and low reps. My thinking was that this would get me in and out of the gym faster.
My results for this weren't as good and in hindsight, I should have went back to my old plan. After a few months, the weight started piling on. Slowly at first, but it piled on. Then, I injured my back. Trips to the chiropractor helped but the pain was always there.
In frustration, it eventually got to the point where I just gave up and stopped working out altogether. I told myself, I miss my sleep anyway and was tired of getting up at 4:15 every day just to make the 16 mile trek back and forth to the gym. Then of course, everything started to slip.
Out of desperation, I started trying every fitness plan and diet drug out there. Guess what? I now have two very large boxes of infomercial tapes and "magic" pills but I never stuck to anything long enough to see results and gained even more weight.
And if you were wondering, the answer is no....you'll never have successful weight loss until you stop thinking that this pill or working out sporadically is going to make it happen for you. You need to set some short term and long term goals and have a plan in place in order to succeed.
On the diet drugs note, let me say, do not waste your money! If you want to take a pill that really works for you, healthy supplements are great! They give you the fuel you need to make your workouts work better for you. They also provide the nutrients that you can't get out of your food every day. But as with anything, check with your Dr. first.
To really lose the weight you need to do your part by eating the right healthy foods, getting plenty of rest, and exercising regularly. This is the only way you will see long-term results!
Fast forward to June of 2009. I finally decided that if I want to get in shape again, it is up to me! No more excuses about not finding the time to work out. I just needed to figure out a different way to rearrange my day so I could fit fitness in and make it as natural a part of my every day as brushing my teeth.
Now, I look at each day as the beginning of my journey and have decided to be here to help motivate and inspire other people that want to get into shape too! If I can do it, so can you!
I am here to help you every step of the way with motivation or as a workout buddy. Yes, I know you'll get frustrated from time to time but I'm here for you no matter what and am as close as an email or phone call away.
Are you ready to get into shape like me or are you happy with where you're at? (I'm guessing not or you wouldn't be here in the first place.) ;0) So what are you waiting for? Let's work on a plan together and get started...right now! :o)
