I have been married to my beautiful wife since 1993 and have great kids. I have been a police officer since 1994, and currently assigned to the SWAT team. Let me tell you where I'm at in my life and what my goals are and/or what motivated me to change my life style. Up until I was 30 years old I had a really good metabolism and could/would eat anything and not gain a pound or inch. At 5'8", with a 31 inch waste, weighed approximately 160 lbs and energy to spare. After 30 I got lazy and gained some weight/inches and got rather sedentary other than running once or twice a week. A year or so prior to starting this program the running had gotten to be once or twice a month. At SWAT practice I found my self getting very winded and tired all the time at home and at work. At a SWAT practice in May of 2009, they introduced a new obstacle course that is rather challenging and it pretty much kicked my butt. Well that motivated me to change things, it was a real eye opener, and so I started running again, but immediately felt the extra weight I was carrying. My eating habits were horrible, I was eating fast food two and sometimes three times a day and when I would get home it didn’t get any better. I would eat frozen pizzas, the whole thing and eat whatever my wife and kids didn’t eat, then get on Xbox live. I know that’s ridiculous. I would drink beer on a regular basis, wouldn't get drunk just have a couple while over at the neighbors house and during barbeques and what not. Didn’t have to have much of an excuse, LOL. I still like beer but have cut it out at the moment and really don't miss it (surprise to me). I did look back at what I was eating and did an estimate and it was scary, I was taking in anywhere from 4000 to 4500 calories based on a high fat, high sodium, high simple carbohydrate, low protein diet. When I made the decision and ordered P90X (May 26th, 2009), I weighed 182.6 lbs, 5'8" with a waist of 36 inches. Yes, I know that’s pretty messed up. The day that I ordered P90X, I changed my diet, to no fast food, no cokes, and no beer. I also started running every day until P90X arrived on June 1, 2009. When the program arrived I opened the box, popped the chest/back workout in and started working out. I figured my RMR and started the fat shredder level 2 diet. All the while, I can’t fail to mention that my wife is following the same program as she is doing P90X program/workouts with me. On that first day I started a food journal that I enter every piece of food/ meal that I eat. As of June 20, 2009, I was wearing size 32 waist pants and weighed in at approximately 175 lbs +/- 2lbs depending on the time of day. I really want to make it clear that my weight was not a real concern to me as long as I look like one of the Spartans in the movie “300”, LOL. I would like for my waist to stay at 32 inches or less and if I weigh 200 lbs that’s fine, I just want it to be lean mass. I felt like I did well through the first three weeks going into my first recovery week. I did not have a cheat day, and don't plan on having them. I know they will happen, but will not plan for them. It was really surprising to me that everything I was eating, I loved it. I always told myself that I would not commit to a nutrition plan that I couldn't do for the rest of my life and I think that I have found it. On August 3, 2009 (Day 64), my weight was 164 lbs. I know when people get through day 90 they say they are in the best shape of their life but I felt like I was in the best shape of my life at day 64. I had an amazing transformation to that point and had almost all of Phase III left to go. I started out having to suck my gut in and use all my strength to button up size 34 pants. On August 3rd 2009, believe it or not was the first time I went to put some Jeans on and I only had one pair that fit me and didn't look like I was a little kid trying to wear his dads clothes. They were an old pair of faded Levi jeans size 32 that I had to tighten my belt up on and tuck my shirt in so that they were not too loose. I said at the beginning that I was going to put my all into this program and if it didn't work, it would be the programs fault. Well I'm here to tell ya that the program works, and it works well. If someone would have told me that I would weigh only 164 pounds, 60 days into the program, I would have told them that they were crazy. Just to let everyone know, I was as excited about this program on day 60 as I was the day I ordered it and I truly believe that you need to be excited about your health. Think about it, its the one thing in your life that you can control, what you feed your body and what you do to your body to maintain a healthy lifestyle. Everyone keep pushing play and BRINGING IT!!!! See you, on day 90.
