Transformation story

Before my transformation, I played baseball and stayed active by biking and hiking. I really thought I was in pretty good shape. My clothes still fit, and I still could do what I had been doing all my life (but really not to the same level as I had previously). I figured it was just age catching up with me. I struggled with back spasms and muscle strains that sometimes reduced my playing time. Again, I figured it was just age.
My realization for the need for a transformation came last spring (2008) when I was in Hawaii. I took the picture I have in my milliondollarbody profile showing my “before” look. I always thought I was in pretty decent shape…relatively thin, relatively athletic, and relatively strong. However, when I compared the Hawaii photo with that from my days in the Army, I was ashamed at how little muscle tone I had. Further, I was appalled at how my weight had transformed from lean muscle mass to fat (you see, I really hadn’t gained any weight).
I found Beachbody through my friend (and now coach), CoachArizona. He and MrsCoachAZ had been doing the P90X program for about 6 months and clued me in on their results. I trusted what he was telling me, so I decided to borrow it for a few weeks while they were between cycles. After the first week, I was absolutely in pain, but I knew the nutrition program was a winner, and I knew P90X was for me. I hopped online and ordered it and have not looked back since.
The muscle soreness in the first week was brutal. Then hunger pangs really beat me back in weeks 2 and 3. I stuck to my discipline through week 4 and really began to see change come week five. The hunger pangs were gone (along with a lot of unwanted fat). It took a lot of self discipline, but I knew the results would be worth the struggle so I just stuck to it by doing my best each day.
The change has been fantastic. I run faster, jump higher, and throw a baseball harder than I have since my college days (more than 15 years ago). The most amazing part has been the anti-aging aspect. My back is pain free, I no longer have chronic muscle strains, and I am actually seeing better than maybe ever. The eye-site improvement might be the most unique aspect to the change. In 2006, I figured my baseball days were drawing to a close. I had trouble seeing the rotation of a curveball, and a fastball in the mid-80s was unhittable. Now, with this transformation, I am hitting better than my college days. Absolutely amazing!!
I definitely would love to see CoachArizona win a transformation prize. He stuck by me throughout the tough patches…especially in the first month. He constantly reminded me that the nutrition program provides at least 75% of the results, and the fitness side is simply a must. He let me know that if I missed a workout (or had a bad eating day), that I needed to move on to the next day. His mantra was to complete the 90-day program in 90 days, evaluate what went right and wrong, then plan on another 90 days to come. “It’s a marathon, not a sprint.” he said. I absolutely agree with him. I’ve jumped on board to be a coach, and I hope to share my positive experiences with many other people.
