Hello and thank you for getting to know me better! My journey started while I was playing intramural womens flag football in college. The "armory" (where I fell in love with weight training) was old-school, non-air conditioned and filled with big, sweaty guys who looked like they ate whole watermelons for snacks. At the same time, I quit my casual cigarette habit (it was the 80's!)

My story is simple yet common. I was teaching 7-9 group exercise classes a week and constantly watching my fat and calories (then later, my carbs). I lifted weights three times a week and even subbed classes from time to time. I was over-exercising and under-eating and I was over-fat for a fitness instructor. I finally decided that I deserved to have a leaner body and signed up with a nutritionist who quickly set me straight. Less cardio, more protein and complex carbs; very little sugar and eating every 3-4 hours. I dropped from 23% bodyfat to 15.5% and lost about 10 pounds. Since then I have let my bodyfat creep up a bit (although I like to blame it on getting older) and so I am now committed to reducing it a little to show off my almost-50-badassmamajamabod.
