I was 265lbs in March of 2005 and I smoked and drank and ate fast food. I went on the Atkins diet. I then went to my doctor and he said you’re a mess, First thing we do is quit smoking, second you’re overweight and your cholesterol is off the chart and you are borderline diabetic. Scared me to death! So I quit smoking in 2006 and started walking, but I was 265 and did not know anything about diet and exercise; well I worked out as a kid and lifted weights. I played allot of sports as a kid so I started my own program with my dog every morning. I have to tell you it gets cold jogging in Denver in the winter. Also I knew I need some organized motivation.

I remembered that I have a friend who is a 7th degree taekwondo master and he invited me to his school. I figure I at least needed to run a mile before I went to class. This took me 9 months to accomplish. So in September 2006 I went to tkd. I was out of breath had to use an inhalator just to breath and spar and just do exercises. Luckily I was naturally flexible it helped with the sport. So I trained hard and ran and worked out 7 days a week. I tried all the diets. I then decided to try tournaments at my age. I trained harder. I was still 212lbs. I competed and received a 2nd place in fl and went to California and won gold. But I was 202 and was getting beat up hard by guys allot bigger than me. I am 5’ 10” the guys in my weight were 6’ plus and in shape!!!!. So I went on the nutri system diet and lost weight and got to 164.
While I was training in class for nationals I dislocated my shoulder, my heart dropped all the way down to my stomach. Luckily we had a doctor that trained with us and he put it back in.
So I thought I could still go to nationals but my shoulder would not cooperate with 5 more dislocations. My friend who invited me had to tell me get the shoulder fixed and then you can come back, but not until you have surgery. I had surgery in Oct 2007 and am now back in tkd. It was a grueling come back going to the gym and training with 2 and 3 lbs and rehabbed my shoulder. I bought this program 3 months a go but, I did not have the strength to do it. I just started now and hope to complete this program and grab that national championship that I missed. I hope!!!! I expect to have a fantastic journey for everyone to read throughout these 90plus days.
