Honolulu, HI Ever since I graduated college, got married and started my career I've been gaining weight. Working in a retail environment puts you into crazy schedules, and it's difficult to establish routines when your work hours change from week to week, and sometimes I find myself putting in an extra 4 hours a day on top of the usual 8 trying to maximize my business. Working in a retail environment puts you into crazy schedules, and it's difficult to establish routines when your work hours change from week to week, and sometimes I find myself putting in an extra 4 hours a day on top of the usual 8 trying to maximize my business. I am exhausted when I get home! I have also found it hard to make the right food choices, because when you are busy you just want to take the fastest option and get back to what you are doing. Finally, my husband loves food and is an excellent cook. Try saying no to HIS dishes! I have a black belt in taekwondo and used to compete seriously at the state and national levels, but now I'm just an overweight woman in the fashion industry who refuses to buy her pants in size 16. What's a girl supposed to do?
That's why I joined. All the excuses in the world are just that - excuses. They are not going to make me lose weight or magically fit back into those size 8 jeans. By planning a variety of workouts out around my hectic schedule and making better choices in eating I'll make those pant sizes change the OTHER way.

I joined Team Beachbody in 2008 and was doing okay but got derailed with work and social obligations, so now I'm back to where I started, 220 lbs. I guess I never noticed the weight creeping back up because I have a huge ego and boundless self-confidence (no, seriously), and have always felt sexy no matter how many skinny girls I party with. However, I'm not so full of myself that I didn't realize that my unhealthy lifestyle couldn't continue forever, and when I found myself checking out the party pics from the weekend before and started not recognizing myself, I knew that changes had to be made. I actually made some pretty big life decisions a last year and have since stepped down from my position and am going back to school for my MBA. I'm making more time for ME and my health.
I'm ramping up the fitness in my life, hitting the gym more (haha they switched from cards to fingerprinting and I never even knew) to do super fun Zumba and Hip Hop classes. I also used to be very active in Taekwondo (I have a 1st Deg Black Belt with ATA) so when I go back to the mainland to visit my parents I work out with my old dojang and do some sparring and warrior x fit along with some non-tkd kickboxing aerobics. And of course, there's TurboJam, which I love love love. I dusted off the DVDs and just started a new rotation this week. I'm also throwing in some Hula and Tahitian Dance DVDs for fun, but they're not my core focus since I didn't get the same results from them as I did TJ. I want to incorporate some weight training, but haven't gotten that aspect of my fitness started yet.
I've also been taking a closer look at what I eat, which is hard when I'm around my husband because we have the biggest sweet teeth ever, but even harder when he's deployed because I'm not really motivated to cook for myself. My goal is to cut down and eat a clean 1500 calories a day, and if I fudge it on the weekends (which this social butterfly probably will) I'll try not to get all bent up about it but workout harder come Monday. My diet is carb careful and high protein, and I try to eat local, fresh and organic as often as possible. I've been tracking my calories through a free program called MyFitnessPal, which has a convenient app for the iPhone.
Coaches, I'm sorry, but I'm not interested in any shakes or supplements, as those lab foods aren't really in line with my fresh/local/organic criteria. If you're not interested in conversing, and only interested in wanting to be my Coach and sell me stuff, then I'm not interested in you. Please don't waste your time or mine.
