Pittsburgh, PA I used to play rugby and I was in shape. Could run for hours and felt like I could take anybody on the field. I had abs!! Then I went back to grad school (at 210 lbs) and sat down for three years eating my way to a Masters degree in geology. I graduated with 30 extra pounds.
I then accepted a job in Houston, TX where I thought I would pick up the rugby ball once again and get myself back I used to play rugby and I was in shape. I then accepted a job in Houston, TX where I thought I would pick up the rugby ball once again and get myself back into shape. I tried three practices and I wasn't doing the team any favors so I quit. For the first time in my life, I quit a sport and it was solely due to fitness.
I was in Houston for almost 5 years weighed up to a whoppping 268 pounds. That's 58 pounds in six years or ~10 pounds a year added onto my frame.
Unbelievable.
As of 12/29/10, I weighed 256 pounds. I've cut out soda during lunch and super heavy meals late at night and, as a result, lost a little bit over the past few months. But I am out of shape which brings me back here...for the fourth time.
The first three times I made it a week or two and then stopped. I always let something get in the way...work, life, it didn't matter, I wouldn't resume my workouts. A full honest effort on my part, including the diet, which I find the hardest thing to correctly do, is the only thing that is called for here.
I want to get it done.
A bit more...I'm a native Chicagoan, I now work as a petroleum geologist with a major in Pittsburgh, PA. I have been in Pittsburgh a few short weeks as I write this. I love it here and this city has much to offer.

Well - I haven't transformed to anything yet...will keep you posted!! But, I do feel sore right now and a bit tired.
I am more worried about the diet as I have never stuck to one. But, with a concerted determined effort and the support found here, I know I can make it.
