Below is a brief bio.
Happily married, my wife and I have 4 children and we are all quite active in our Church and the local Marine Corps League Detachment.
I ran Track and Cross Country in High School and carried that love of running into my years as a Marine. Even after leaving the Marine Corps in 1991 I did my best to get in a few 5k and 10K races every couple months. However in the mid 90s as an assistant Cross Country and Track coach I settled into a rut of encouraging others and not running myself. That changed when in 2007, 2 of our children joined The Young Marines, a Youth Program which encourages healthy living and a drug free life style. I also joined the Staff as the Training Officer...the program included a Physical Fitness Test; in an effort to motivate some of the children I instituted the “BOM” (Beat the Old Marine) Challenge. The test is designed so that the children have to perform at their age level...the highest age being 17, which meant I had to compete (achieve the results) as if I were 17 years old...no easy task for someone who had sat around idle for almost 8 years. I spent months getting "in shape"...it was a fun experience...I would even workout with some of the Young Marines, if they requested help in an effort to help them succeed in the "BOM" Challenge. The idea was to get them excited about being physically fit; (it was not about me). Although the YM Program is a great program with great people, we left that program in March 2009 as we had promised our daughter that she would be joining the Youth Program at our Church as soon as she was old enough (both meeting on the same evening) and I settled into once again being inactive.
Although people have constantly told me that I looked like I was in shape...inside I’ve always known...it’s just a look...I would even tell them, “That’s because I suck in my gut.”
I’d always seen the infomercials for various workouts however none of them really appealed to me...then I saw the Insanity™. I ordered Insanity™ that same day (the Saturday after Thanksgiving 2009)...it arrived on 03-Dec-09 and I started on 04-Dec, by doing the Fit Test. My wife monitored my Fit Test...in the middle of the Fit Test, she asks, "Did you watch the entire infomercial before you ordered this?"...of course I said "No'. She responds, "I didn't think so!" Our children were watching me and our daughter says, “Dad, this is insane!” This statement was repeated several times over the first 2 weeks of the program. Anyway with 4 children, all 12 and under (and me being 49 going on 50)...I figured I better get in shape to keep up with these guys.
As Marine Veteran I know how important it is to stay in shape both physically and mentally. Well with the Insanity™ program I plan to get back in physical shape. I just completed week 5 and am feeling the difference both physically and mentally. Looking forward to completing this program and moving on to other Beach Body programs.

Wanted to increase my energy. Currently feeling more energetic while shaping up...drinking less coffee.....Started Insanity® Workout program om 04-Dec-09...Completed program on 04-Feb-10...Loss a little over 4lbs and a total of 8.5 inches (neck, chest, waist, & hips). Estimated Body from 26% down to 14%. Went from a trouser size (tight) 32 or (loose) 33 inch waist to an under 30 inch waist...after doing 7 weeks of a 2nd round of Insanity® I was sidetracked due to family health issues and death in the family. However at that time I was down 16 lbs from my starting weight, and went from an avg resting heart rate of 76 - 80bpm (over the past several years) to an avg of 52 - 55bpm. I have since started doing a P90X / Insanity Hybrid...which I plan to complete by the mid fall of 2010.
