I'm a 30 year old teacher from the Midwest. I teach middle school band and truly enjoy showing children how much enjoyment one can get from being involved in music, in addition to the benefit an education in music can have for one's creativity, learning, and self-discipline. I love music and passing that love on to others!!
In addition to teaching full time, I also play the trumpet. I'm a 30 year old teacher from the Midwest. I love music and passing that love on to others!!
In addition to teaching full time, I also play the trumpet. Balancing practice, rehearsals and performances, it's like a second job for me. I do a lot of 'gigging' in the area (concerts, weddings, church services, etc). I definitely stay busy, but since I don't have a family of my own to look after, it's the time in my life when I can do some of these extra things.
Being in shape directly influences my teaching and trumpet playing. When I am in good shape, I definitely feel I have more energy and stamina to take on the challenges of working with middle school band students, with still some energy left to give my trumpet at the end of a long day. Beachbody has changed my life!!

Beachbody has changed my life. When I went away to college, I gained a lot of weight (over 50 pounds). It was difficult to keep myself from overindulging on all those bad-for-you convenient foods. More ...
Beachbody has changed my life. When I went away to college, I gained a lot of weight (over 50 pounds). It was difficult to keep myself from overindulging on all those bad-for-you convenient foods. After many years of being frustrated with how my clothes fit, how I looked in pictures, and more importantly – how I felt - I realized I needed to make a change. With the help of Beachbody, I've made terrific progress. I currently weigh 125, down from 175! I have more muscle tone and strength than I ever have had in my life.
I started by pulling out some old Kathy Smith aerobic workouts I had in my cupboard and curbed my bad eating habits, somewhat. It was fairly easy to take off the first few pounds, but after a while, I hit a wall. I wasn't doing any resistance training along with the aerobics, so I didn't gain a lot of muscle. I needed a more structured eating and exercise program.
My Mom saw the Power 90 infomercial, and got the DVD. I was never a believer in infomercials, but after much persuasion, she finally talked me into trying them. I had amazing results! I love Tony's workouts because they are straightforward and every move you feel is worth it. Also, his corny humor makes it fun! I find myself laughing out loud during my workouts. I watched what I ate better - ramped up my veggie intake, ate a lot of fish and cut out ice cream and other dangerous and well-loved goodies. I got down to 126 and felt so good. My body shape had changed dramatically.
Then I tried Slim in 6 and managed to get my weight down even further than before. The workouts were excellent - I felt very challenged. I noticed a huge difference in my rear and thighs - a much needed area to change! However, after my six weeks I stopped exercising and eating right (much to my shame), and some of the weight came back. I’ve been doing Kathy Smith’s Project YOU, for much of the time since and have had good results. I noticeably improved my strength with this program. The scale hasn’t changed dramatically, but my ability to perform some of the moves has, so I know I’m making progress. I like the variety of workouts Kathy has in Project YOU, and her manner is very clear and easy to follow.
I then moved to Tony Horton's "Master Series," and enjoyed these workouts the most. Many of the moves were great preparation for my most recent endeavor - P90X. I am one-third done with the program, and I'm thrilled with the results so far, and can't wait to see what the final 60 days will give me! He keeps me motivated and sweating, that's for sure, and my body is performing better than I've ever been able to do with any exercise program. I'm determined to continue to make forward progress.
Overall, I'm down 52 pounds from the start of my “getting in shape” journey. I used to be a size 14, and am currently wearing a size 4 jeans - I’m very proud of them. My body is more toned and I feel great!!! Thank you, Beachbody, for helping to make this happen!
