Before I was pregnant with my 3rd child, my husband had transformed his body by using the Beachbody programs, starting with Slim in 6, then P90X, and also adding Turbo Jam. Even though I was not yet More ...
Before I was pregnant with my 3rd child, my husband had transformed his body by using the Beachbody programs, starting with Slim in 6, then P90X, and also adding Turbo Jam. Even though I was not yet working out myself, I
had been watching him and learning more about healthy eating. During this pregnancy, we ate much better, following the Beachbody eating guidelines, and because of that I only gained about 25 pounds. The first two pregnancies I had gained about 40 pounds each time. I worked out with Slim in 6 sporadically throughout the pregnancy. Even though I didn’t stick to the
program exactly, I feel that it did help me to have a healthier pregnancy, and ultimately, a very quick and easy labor and delivery. On February 14, 2008, we welcomed our third beautiful son into the world. Even though I did better this time around, having 3 babies in less than 4 years had really taken its toll on my body. I was tired, out of shape, and felt like I would never be back in decent shape again. I had begun to just accept that a woman’s body could never be completely fit again after pregnancy, especially 3 pregnancies, all taking place in my 30’s rather than 20’s. Even before the pregnancies, I had not really felt healthy or comfortable with myself. So, just a couple of weeks after his birth, I started slowly getting back into a program. I started Slim in 6, Start it up. I took each level of that program very slowly, so as not to push myself too hard. But it felt so good to get moving around. With the lack of sleep, the light exercise felt so invigorating. After about 1 week of Start it up, I was already feeling stronger, and ready for the next level. I then “ramped it up” and every day felt just a little stronger, a little better. I had taken my “before” pictures and then every 30 days I would take more. Every time, I compared those and was so pleasantly surprised. I did not really notice from day to day any major changes, but those pictures said so much. They were very motivating. After 2 months of Slim in 6, I decided to add some other workouts into the mix. I thought Rockin Body looked fun, so I gave it a try. It was so much fun that I couldn’t wait to work
out every day. At about 3 months postpartum, I decided to start the big P90X experience. Only 3 weeks into that, I hurt my back and spent the next month rehabilitating. I saw a chiropractor, and between that therapy, and incorporating Slim & Limber and P90X Stretch, I was able to get back to about 100% in a month, and decided to try Turbo Jam. I had forgotten to take pictures, but after 6 weeks of Turbo Jam I did take them. I was very pleasantly surprised. I knew my clothes were fitting differently, but that person looking back at me was someone I didn't know. I took my measurements and realized that in 6 months, I went from being in the worst shape of my life to being in the best shape of my life. I can honestly say that I began this process more for vanity reasons. I saw my husband and how great he looked and I wanted that. But throughout this process I have totally changed my outlook. I learned so much more about overall fitness and nutrition. I am now in my second week of P90X. When I started it this time, I felt so much stronger. I have been able to make it through all the exercises, when my first attempt had been really poor. I was just not physically ready for it, and was able to use some of the other programs to condition my body prior to P90X. Now, when I exercise, my goals have become more about fitness—getting through more of each workout without modifing moves, doing all the reps, using greater weights, etc. As a byproduct, I look better and feel better. I’m now able to do things with my children that I used to not be able to do. I remember a couple of years ago trying to teach my oldest child how to do a cartwheel. I almost could not get myself over and it felt so awkward. Just yesterday, I tried it again. I felt so strong and agile. I now go outside with the boys and run and play. I feel strong and have energy to really enjoy them. And because of our habits, our boys are picking it up as well. They ask us daily if we can go work out. They eat healthy foods, and don’t usually ask for junk. We don’t keep it in the house anyway. For us, working out and eating right is just a way of life. Every day we sleep, we eat, and we work out (along with a million other things!). But working out is no longer an option, but just something we do. I’m no longer embarrassed by the way I look. I no longer change outfits 5 times trying to find something that doesn’t show every roll. I no longer hide in my clothes. I really never felt that I was that overweight, but I can tell such a difference in my attitude. I have more confidence. I am taking risks and doing things that before I wouldn’t have attempted, either because of lack of energy or lack of confidence. I don’t want to be on the sidelines watching my children grow up, but instead, be right there with them, enjoying their lives and activities. Thanks to Beachbody and their products and services, I have finally become the fittest I have ever been in my life, only 6 short months after the birth of my 3rd baby. I accomplished this at home with my 3 boys right there with me every step of the way.

Update: It's now one year after the birth of my 3rd son. We are still working out and loving it!! I have almost completed a full round of ChaLean Extreme. I have loved it!!! I think I will continue on with the Lean for Life routine and then see what happens. My body fat dropped even more, I am now wearing a size 4 pants! I've never been a size 4! My goal now is to continue working out and eating right, just to continue being healthy. This has helped us in all aspects. We are now writing out goals and sticking to them. We now have a much more "ordered" life, getting lots more accomplished than before!
