All of my adult life has been spent struggling with my weight. I have tried many diets and even pills - but gained the weight back. I never could get below a size 16. At a size 22 I sought help from my doctor and she put me on a low cal diet with 30 minutes of exercise a day. The simplicity of the plan really made a difference; small meals all day and jogging the track was my "simple win". I realized that even though the weight loss was slow it was coming off with ease; no starving or back breaking exercise. Slower is better!
Soon after I started my (first ever) successful weight loss I met a woman who soon became a great friend of mine. She had just started P90X. I inquired but it sounded too complicated. It seemed like a huge jump for me and I had learned from experience that I failed with anything that involved too much thought and planning. I had reached a milestone in my weight loss but I was so scared to commit to something like P90X.
It was amazing to watch her transformation. She was healthier and happier. And the best part was; she could EAT! One night I saw an infomercial about INSANITY. I noticed it was Beachbody and I had seen firsthand what Beachbody programs can do. Still weary of a strict program like P90X I decided to order INSANITY. The thing that attracted me to INSANITY was the fact that it is simple: no equipment! It's all straight forward, even the meal plan.
Let me tell you: the only thing simple about INSANITY is understanding it. The workouts are extreme...no, INSANE. I loved it. You can pause the video and catch your breath at any time. Eventually I could work through them without stopping. Since you are pushing your body to it's limit the workout never gets easy. There's always room for improvement. I wasn't losing weight like I had hoped but then I realized that I was gaining heavy muscle. My clothes were getting loose. I dropped two more sizes. Unfortunately I got the flu in my second month and didn't get to finish. I tried to pick up where I left off but with INSANITY you can't start over in the second month. The second month is NOT a beginning point. Though I didn't complete the program this is still a success story. I lost more weight, became more flexible and the best part is that I am no longer a prisoner of my lazy ways. I am beginning P90X April 26. I still have 4 sizes to lose but I've done it: I've finally got the upper hand on obesity!
