Comparisons have been made with the Pillsbury Dough Boy. Nuff Said. I am 47 now and if I don't make some serious changes in my life soon (like now) I may never.

After 90 days I have trimmed up significantly and my blood pressure and hears rate (never really high to start with) have really come down.

I remember that I was really active as a youth - playing on all the high school sports teams, riding my bike to school, skiing like mad in the winter and generally keeping in shape - immortal as all teenagers.

Then university and more cerebral work and less activity but still skiing a lot in the winter and playing some intra-mural sports. Already I had started buying bigger pants sizes though.

Come graduation and more money for dining and drinking, lots of time at a desk and not a lot of activity. Could you large size those pants please?

At around 29 (not 30 ..isn't that surprising) I had a tough year. Life not going the way I wanted it to. I got in shape and trained hard to tackle my first triathlon. Somehow I got that "been there and done that" attitude about triathlons and I think it was my difficulty with running but after months of training I just gave up on triathlons.

I moved to St. Maarten in the Caribbean to start up a submarine company and my girlfriend tagged along. We ended up getting married there and having our first child on the island. I was actively swimming and scuba diving and keeping in reasonable shape but was in a steady state of 180 lbs. I was 180 playing high school football but got down as low as 165 for the triathlon.

After we moved back to Canada things started declining. Office work and living in the country with no active friends near and a sedentary family. I gradually snuck up to 200 lbs. I didn't feel too healthy and wearing size 38 pants was a downer.

I went to a 25th university reunion this past fall and some of me friends were in great shape while many others were like me or worse. One night I saw the infamous P90X infomercial and got fired up. After researching the Beachbody programs I decided that P90X was probably too ambitious for me (with age comes wisdom) and so ordered the P90. I started Nov. 1, 2007 and haven't missed a workout yet. I have missed getting onto wowy on occasion but never missed an actual workout. That first month was the hardest physically and I saw the greatest change in my body during that time.

At the end of 90 days I had lost 22 lbs and several inches. I was able to go shopping with my wife and get size 33 pants over Christmas and just lst weekend got some 32's. I filled 3 garbage bags with clothes for the goodwill drop off.

It feels awesome to have my life back and it is not just thanks to Beachbody but to the people on WOWY that I have been lucky enough to call my "Buddies" There is always someone there to commit to having a workout with. It helps me roll out of bed on time rather than lounging even that extra 10 minutes to know that people are counting on me as a workout buddy.

Now at the end of P90 I am still slightly concerned about the P90X so I will be going with the P90 Masters series as suggested by my coach Lori Burns (LBurns). She has been the most amazing workout partner never issing a workout she had committed to with me. It made me want to do the same for her.

I look better at 47 (and 78 lbs) than I did at 30 (and 165 lbs)

Now if I can just manage to thin my skin a little more, those muscles I worked so hard to build will shine through.

I had a month of coasting (if you can call it that) in the P90 after I completed the 90 days and just passed my minimums in the fitness test for the P90X today. March 1. I start the P90X in ernest on Monday March 3 just 2 days before my 48th. I was worried about the pullups since I have dislocated my shoulder on two occasions and thought I might have difficulties. But I did 3 and a half. The half is pathetic but like 18% more than 3 so I will take it.
