I wasn't overweight as a child at all. I was in fact skinny and my mom would have to buy 'slim' which is not 'x' and still take them in. By high school I was in the 120's and then an average weight for most of my adult life. Usually around a size 10 or 12. Since high school I felt I was bigger than I really was and thought I needed to lose weight. Looking back at pictures I was fine. Once I hit 25 though, I noticed it was harder to keep it off. I always made sure I never got over a size 14. I would work out and eat right because I refused to "let myself go" or have to shop in plus stores.

I found myself in that mode once again after relocating to Virginia in 1997. I gained weight due to loneliness and eating became my friend. I found myself weighing 165. I began working out and eating right and was well on my way when I became pregnant. I gained 46 pounds but got down to business when my son was six weeks. I got to my pre-pregnancy weight of 165 by the time he was eight months old. I got comfortable at that weight for the most part. I would try but not hard to lose weight. I never fully committed.

But then clothes got painfully tight when he was two. I was wearing a size 14 and driving one day. They were so painfully tight at the waist I was close to tears- from the pain- And I hadn't eaten in hours! I went to Weight Watchers the next week, tripled my exercise dvd collection and lost close to forty pounds in eight months. I was in the best shape of my life. I had sexy muscles and strangers would approach me to ask if I was a trainer. But then something strange happened. I kept losing weight when I wanted to stop, I started going to the bathroom like crazy, and my eyesight went from perfect to nearly blind in five days. I knew what was happening and went to the hospital. The nurses took my blood pressure and pulse, they kept asking was I an athlete due to my numbers. What a compliment! But then the doctor told me what I didn't want to hear, I had type 2 Diabetes! What! I was in the best shape in my entire life.

I took the diagnosis hard. Didn't know what to eat and what not to. So many myths and at the time I didn't have the money or health insurance to see a diabetes educator to get the facts. Afterwhile I stopped working out. Tired of my sugar dropping low and eating like a pig to counteract it. Also my new job was so stressful and time consuming.

I moved back to Virginia in 2004 (came back to NY after birth of my son in 1999). I was in the mortgage business and had a job that I loved but was very stressful and my roundtrip commute was close to 3 hours! I got married in 2005 at 156 pounds, I'd gained close to 20 pounds in two years. Fast forward to March 2007 and I was 171. Got pregnant, found out I was losing my job and four days after that I lost the baby. By the time I found out I was pregnant again in June 2007, I was close to 190. Had my son in 2008 and lost most of the pregnancy weight fast due to breast feeding. Got back to the 190's within a month, two months at the most. That was great! But here it is March 2010 and I am back up in the low 200's. First time in my life being in the 200's other than being pregnant or post pregnant on the way down to onederland. I will turn 40 this year and I am determined to enter my 40s fabulous and fit. I am determined to make this lifestyle change permanent, no matter the obstacles in my way. I currently attend Boot Camp at a local gym three days a week and I just began 5k training. I would like to run my first 5k this June. So much to do, so little time but I will do it. Decide. Commit. Succeed. Then maintain.

I fell in love with Turbo Jam a few years ago and knew BeachBody has great products. I plan to incorporate Turbo Fire in my plan and perhaps do Chalene Extreme again or p90x in the future.

I want to be there for my family. I love my husband and want to be there for my two boys. I also want to be an inspiration to others, especially individuals with diabetes. You can be healthy and be in awesome shape despite it. It does not limit you. You control it and do not let it control you. So that is The day after that? Just you wait and see!
