THE HEALTHY EATING 1/3 OF MY EQUATION: I have tried several diets (weight watchers, the zone, etc) in the past but have never stuck with anything too long. It's all about eating healthy, portion control, and being aware of what food combination's are best for your body/fitness goals. I don't believe in "diets," rather eating healthy is a way of life that needs to be integrated into your daily routine.
THE EXERCISING 1/3 OF MY EQUATION: Before beachbody I'd say I finally found the time to go to the gym 5-6 days/week in the summer of 2009; however, I knew that once I started my full time job Fall 2009 that might change (and it did!!). I prefer to go to the gym during the day when it's quiet and I don't have to wait for machines, not at 5pm when everyone else has just rushed over from work to get in a work out on their way home. MY STRUGGLE: No matter what I have tried in the past, I have always struggled with toning my arms and stomach. I have tried nameless work out videos, classes at the gym, pushing myself on stairmasters, treadmills, following the advice of friends who are trainers, etc. The bottom line is trainers I wanted the results I would get from working with a trainer, but couldn't afford one at the time. 2007-2009: While I was in graduate school I rarely found time to make it to the gym before it closed; I wish I had found beachbody sooner! During these two years I did my best to eat healthy and lost about 15 pounds (I think that I lost mostly muscle weight and was WAY too stressed!!!). I shrunk from a size 8 to a size 2-4 and have since been doing my best to maintain my current size. Following water damage to my apartment in summer 2009 and having to live in a hotel during the restoration period, I was having trouble getting to the gym before it closed at night. This made me think about how it would be when I started my first full-time job in Aug 2009. I was scared I would fall into the same pattern as I did in graduate school and then I accidentally stumbled upon an INSANITY infomercial. When I heard that this program was HARD and that I would have to DIG DEEP, this hooked my attention. After all, we've all seen the scams where they promised you can get thin in 5 minutes a day without breaking a sweat, right? Well, that's one of the differences between those "other" programs & the REAL beachbody programs! The honesty that came from Sean T's infomercial is what initially got me hooked. I watched the infomercial three times before I picked up the phone and ordered INSANITY, but I am happy I did. I LOVE LOVE LOVE INSANITY!!! Within 10 days I noticed an increase in energy, stamina, strength, flexibility - it is AMAZING!! INSANITY has helped me to push myself harder than ever before and it feels GREAT!
MY CONCERNS PRIOR TO STARTING THE PROGRAM & THE MOTIVATIONAL 1/3 OF MY EQUATION: I was a bit concerned about doing this program because I have previously had 13 stitches to my left knee and a broken left ankle (both injuries within 6 months of each other about 13 years ago) and this has prevented me from being able to run long-distance to stay fit. I know my limits and am being careful not to injure myself while still pushing myself to a level I never thought possible. Sean T is amazing and motivates me through every workout, it's as if he is next to me telling me to GO GO GO and push through to reach my true potential!
Well...I have completed INSANITY 3 times!!! It's time for something new...I started drinking Shakeology in April 2010 (YUM!!) and I completed 90 days of P90X this past summer. I have now experienced workouts from a variety of the programs including: Turbo Jam, Turbo Fire, Hip Hop Abs, RevAbs, Brazil Butt Lift & Slim in 6. These programs work and keep me fit & healthy! To Beachbody and all that it has done for me!! It's time to pay it forward; I wonder what it could do for YOU?
