Although I have tried several workout routines through various sports training, the programs you designed are like nothing I have ever experienced before, and since I am a big Dear Beachbody, Chalene Johnson, and Tony Horton, I am a graduate of both the Turbo Jam and P90X programs, and I can’t thank you enough for the transformation you inspired me to achieve, both physically and emotionally. Although I have tried several workout routines through various sports training, the programs you designed are like nothing I have ever experienced before, and since I am a big fan of variety, it was your innovative approach to fitness that earned my unwavering commitment to achieve this transformation. By making fitness fun and rewarding, you helped me lose 71 pounds, 22% body fat, and 10.5” from my waist in just 6 months, and then to build 10 pounds of lean muscle, truly giving me a new lease on life and the ripped Beachbody I always wanted. I have always struggled with my weight since becoming a wrestler in high school. It was very common for me to drop 30-40 pounds at the beginning of wrestling season and then put the weight back on for football. After starving myself for 3 months a year, I would attack the nearest buffet like a piranha the second wrestling season was over. This pattern led to major swings in my eating habits, and after graduating high school, I switched my focus to intense college studying and working long hours trying to maintain scholarship funding and begin building my career. Needless to say, my stress levels elevated immensely, and I quickly turned to a common source of comfort, nasty food… lots of it. I continued to make excuses with myself for why I could never find time to work out, and this vicious circle grew to its peak down the home stretch of my final year in college. It was at this point, I had gained more than 70 pounds of fat, 10” to my waist, and began experiencing several health issues resulting from my unhealthy lifestyle. My wife noticed that I developed a very loud snore when I slept (so bad that she started wearing ear plugs at night… no joke), and I began experiencing sleep apnea (periods of not breathing while sleeping), which was very scary. I also suffered from severe acid reflux, and I had to visit the doctor several times for painful digestive problems, so bad in fact that I had to be hospitalized when the pain in my abdomen became too severe at times. Along with these symptoms also came a very pessimistic perspective on life, very low self-esteem, and lost relationships with friends and family. Probably one of the most humbling consequences of being so overweight was having to purchase what I like to call “Men’s Maternity Pants”, you know the khakis with the “superstretch waist band” for men whose bellies need a lot of extra room. Needless to say, this was a major wake up call for me. I was ready for a change and began to explore where to begin what would become an amazing transformation that exceeded my wildest expectations. Late one night, my wife (fiancé at the time) and I were watching an infomercial for Turbo Jam, and we both became very excited about trying the program. My wife loved the upbeat, fun music selections, and I was looking forward to the martial arts moves and nutrition plan (the area where I needed the most help). My wife and I agreed that this would be the spark we needed to get motivated for a life changing effort, and we finally set a goal to get married in Jamaica on the beach 3 months later (something we never would have done without being comfortable with the way we looked). Even though I got express shipping, I was so excited about getting started that I could hardly wait, watching for the delivery truck and anxiously checking the front porch everyday when I got home from work. The day it arrived, I immediately tore the package open and did all the prep work. At first, even the Learn and Burn and 20-Minute Workout had me out of breath since I was so badly out of shape, but within 3 weeks, I was keeping pace with Chalene and team through even my favorite workouts, the Fat Burner and Punch, Kick, and Jam. After 90 days of the Turbo Jam diet and exercise plan, I lost nearly 50 pounds, 6 inches off my waist, 15% body fat, and I finally kissed the “Men’s Maternity Pants” (and the shame that goes with wearing them) goodbye. The reward was a beautiful beach wedding and honeymoon in Jamaica… the first real vacation my wife and I had taken in more than 7 years. Our wedding was a dream come true, and the self-confidence and passion for life I developed through the Turbo Jam program made the experience so much better. I noticed a commercial at the end of one of my Turbo Jam DVDs for the P90X program, and I told my wife that I was ready for a bigger challenge, and I wanted to continue my success by getting ripped, so she bought it for my birthday… what would turn out to be the best present ever!! I was so excited to get ready for P90X, and I immediately ordered the P90X push-up bars, exercise mat, dumbbells, resistance bands, heart rate monitor, and yoga blocks to maximize my results. I told myself that if I was going to do this, I was truly going to Bring It and give this program everything I had. The first few weeks of P90X were extremely tough, requiring me to dig deep and push myself to new levels of fitness and motivation. It was the first physical challenge in my life that exceeded the demands of wrestling training, something I never thought would be surpassed, but I am so glad it did. One of the most important aspects of the success I achieved with P90X was following the nutrition plan with no exceptions, and the supplements really helped me to keep Bringing It more and more each workout. The Peak Health Formula vitamins made me feel great all day (especially when I needed the added boost during workouts), the Peak Performance Protein Bars and Whey Protein shakes helped me continue to build lean muscle with energy while shedding fat, and my personal favorite, the Peak Recovery Formula drink, was absolutely the best part of my day. It tastes (and smells) incredible and really helped my body recover very quickly to get me ready to Bring It for another intense workout the next day. It is like a drink from the fountain of youth after each workout… really awesome stuff! Through P90X, I lost an additional 20 pounds, another 4.5” from my waist, and 7% more body fat, finally getting the ripped “beach body” I always wanted. From day 1 to day 90 of P90X, I improved from 38 push-ups to 71 and from 12 pull-ups to 33, both areas where I was very excited to measure and see my results. The snoring, sleep apnea, acid reflux, and digestive issues are now a thing of the past, and my wife is finally able to sleep without earplugs. Many of my friends and coworkers joked about how the normal trend is to get married and get fat, but I remain determined to take a different path. As a result of my Beachbody journey over the last 6 months, I have developed a strong passion for educating myself about nutrition and fitness, and I have learned to control my subconscious desires to eat nasty food in times of stress. I look forward to working out everyday and inspiring others to reach for their fitness goals. Several of my friends and coworkers are now P90Xers after seeing my results, both in how I look and feel, as well as in how it changed my attitude and quality of life. Even my wife is motivated to take on the new Turbo Jam Get On The Ball to maximize her fitness results where we left off with the original Turbo Jam series. With my physical transformation also came a priceless change in life perspective, as I now recognize the things that are most important in my life and not to “sweat the small stuff” that really doesn’t matter in the bigger scope of things. I just “do my best and forget the rest”, and this simple commitment has carried over to all aspects of my life. Having a physical outlet for the stressors we face in life really helps to maintain this focus by keeping the negative energy from stockpiling within us and standing in the way of our happiness.
