Got to Give Her Credit

The Lauren Majewski Story

My story with Beachbody begins years before I actually became a Coach. My husband, Val was playing in the minor leagues for the MLB after an injury knocked him out of the major leagues. I had to quit my full-time job as a neurotherapist so I could move to be with him in the same state.

We were financially struggling by living paycheck-to-paycheck and had to sell our home just to make payments on our student loans and other debt. I had filed for bankruptcy when I was 23 years old due to some terrible legal advice. When you’re unemployed with bankruptcy on your record, you can’t get anything in your name. I couldn’t get a cell phone, a credit card, or even be on our bills. I was 100% financially dependent on my husband.

When Val retired from the MLB, we had a child and an infant, and I was suffering from post-partum depression. Cooking one night with a screaming baby and a child tugging on my leg, I got distracted and the kitchen went up into flames. We didn’t have renter’s insurance and the damage was enough to keep us homeless. I felt hopeless and desperate. Literally two hours later, Brandi Botts, a Beachbody Coach whose husband used to play baseball with Val, called and recruited me to Coach. She had been trying to get me to join her Challenge Group every month for the last 12 months, and I had been hesitant. But this time was different. I literally had nothing to lose. It felt meant to be.

My first paycheck was $13, but I continued to plug away at the business. I worked hard—falling off track with my business on occasion but getting right back in when I could. I remained consistent with my vital behaviors and daily activities which kept my Team and my income growing. I worked on developing my leaders, consistently growing my Team, and spent most of my time on personal development. I worked hard to create a system for my Team and to become a better leader.

A few years later, I was making enough money to completely get out of credit card debt, I was able to buy my husband his dream car, an M3, by myself as a surprise, and get this—I have an incredible credit score! We have savings, investments, and are able to sponsor children for summer camps and give to other local charities. I was even able to spoil the leaders on my Team by taking them on an expense-paid mountain retreat in Utah. We recently remodeled our home in cash, and right now it looks like we’ll be able to have our mortgage paid off by the end of the year!

Beachbody has blessed our family in so many ways. It’s had a positive change on my life, my marriage, my family, and my finances. It takes off so much stress to live worry free when it comes to finances.

I am not perfect at this. I am not a perfect leader. I skip workouts and will miss a shake. I fall off the wagon and get the blues—and all that goes with life! But I show up for my business every day, and I take ownership of my successes and failure. And that’s what makes a great Coach.
